The maximum speed for the 231 routes is 95 if they're allowed to run at HST speeds - otherwise 90. Again, the improved acceleration over the units they're replacing should provide a decent upgrade without needing any changes to top speed.
Aren't they intended to work the Swanline services? If so, they'll be going through Pyle which is HST 100 I believe but given that they will be stopping at Pyle if going through there that is probably accademic.

That should be in the hands of 197 trains.

I wonder what work Widnes may get to replace the Class 175 refurb programme once it is completed this month?

175114 is ready to be collected with 112 replacing it. 150227 is refurb in progress.
All renaming 158s & 175s still to be fully refurbed should all be done by new year leaving only the 150s in ATW colors.

Pendolino interior refurbishments perhaps?

The 175 programme should complete at the beginning of January, and the 158 programme by early March, allowing for Christmas time off.

158835 came from Doncaster today to Shrewsbury. I take it this was the latest refurb.

Are there not more 153s coming which will stay and run the Heart of Wales/Crewe local services for the rest of the franchise, or at least for a lot longer than the rest of the 153s/150s will be around?

Originally 170s were being retained for HOW/Crewe local and some West Wales services but now apparently TFW are getting extra 153s which will stay to do the HOW line.

No, no extras just part of the fleet that's already there have been purchased from the leasing company and be kept.

Yes, I know - have seen 175s on Maesteg plenty of times, but not a 170 going to North Wales, or anywhere other than Maesteg, Ebbw Vale or Gloucester, for that matter.

The 170 would have not gone to North Wales but would have changed diagrams for one reason or another, When this occurs the unit invariably remains on it's original in the system and catch up with events later.

Yes I was stupid to think it would! Of course it changed in the system later.

Under the new timetable, does anyone know which TfW services out of Manchester (either towards Chester or South Wales) are booked for a 2 coach unit Mon-Fri?

Some of the Manchester to South Wales services inparticular seem very hit and miss as to whether a 2 or 3 coach unit turns up.

Can any of our informed members confirm if another Class 150 is in for refurb replacing 150 227?

158827 is back from refresh at Crewe. It doesn't look like the next 158 will be going in until after the new year.
