Great picture Warren! Any idea if 5740 has moved, or is is still invisible behind another unit?
5740 is on 6 road New Sidings which is right outside the maintenance shed under the Wimbledon Traincare Depot sign

Is the best vantage point of 12 road at Wimbledon from passing through on the train or is there a better spot off Wellington Road or Gresham Way?
If you are there looking for 8522 try Gresham. I’ve never walked up there tbh.

You can see it when passing briefly providing nothing is on the Earlsfield exit or shunting out of the shed 7-11 roads on the London end.

Tomorrow’s 456s 6007/11 are in the usual spot waiting for their 37. That leaves 6001/5/17. As far as I know that’s it for the departures of 456s by rail. The latter three units, certainly 6001/5 aren’t rollers. 6017 also has wheelset issues.

37884 with 456007 456011 through charlbury 3 early.
Off what could well be the last 456 drag to long marston.
Wonder what is the next in line 458004?
Maybe.?

Seems to be a severe reduction in the number of 458s being used as of today. Looking at RTT I can only find around a dozen in service, including just one pair on the Reading line with everything else being 450s.

Have the 458s come off particularly badly with storm damage or is this a planned reduction in their use?

Certainly on the Reading line that is now booked. A few are booked out as 5 cars on Weybridges now. Should also be a pair on the Kingston loop.

A couple still managed a little adventure yesterday (Monday), on the 0750 Waterloo to Guildford stopper via Woking, and 0904 return up via Cobham.

With the very recent swr timetable change as off Monday 21st February 2022. Does anyone kindly know iff any further reduction in fleet to the 455 or 458 will now occur. Ie off lease or withdrawal 455 wise. Or 458 going for modifications ie widnes or withdrawal etc. Does this include another large batch off units going to long marston again for more storage purposes.
Thank you.

I think WarrenTManager mentioned not that long ago that no other trains will be going off lease (455 I think he said) until 701s start coming into service.

I hope that 455 still do remain in service because come time in the next few weeks swr might just realise that more trains are needed.
However what is the situation on the 458s? because it still remains a bit uncertain about their status at the momment especially as off this week as less are needed.
Are any 458 going to leave earlier for scrap or refurbishment earlier. Rather than later?

If you mean extra trains in the timetable then I agree.

My train into Richmond this morning was the busiest I've seen it for a couple of years and we're at the start of people going back to work in earnest for at least some of the week.

London had school half term last week, but some areas are this week. It is likely that as soon as schools are back, more people will return to work.

The big risk for SWR is that if the middle 3 days (Tuesday-Thursday) rush hour trains get anything close to pre pandemic loadings then SWR is going to struggle as it 200-300 coaches short of its franchise launch commitments. It can’t really bring that many into service in a few days if return to work happens quickly

Yes most certainly extra trains need to return.
Including the reading extra rush hour services.

Would it be at all feasible to have the spare 465s and 466s on the south western in the event the capacity was needed and they were the only stock available?
