Sorry to hear that.
Did they request your gcse results before rejection?

Is there anyone who took their VI on the 16th that’s heard either way yet?
I did my video interview the 16th if I remember correctly, it was the evening of the storm I think. I've still not heard anything.

No it was just the rejection email. I did mine on the 16th as well so hopefully you should hear soon. I think if they're asking for GCSE results then that might be a promising sign but who knows. Hope you guys get some positive news :)

For the video interview, are they wanting to know your skills in relation to the role as a train driver?

No, it’s more general questions about your experiences, why you want to be a driver and scenarios you’ve been required to follow procedure and stuff like that

Pretty standard competency based questions
Tell me about a time you've....
You can kind of pick them out by looking at the job description

I did my VI on 13th Feb, received my no thanks on the 7th March. Quite disappointed with this as I have been a guard with a different TOC for a long time now. My video answers for situation questions were all to do with things I have actually been involved in at work such as suicide for dealing with rules and regulations, passenger having a heart attack on journey for emergency situation, train delays and cancellations for giving good passenger service. I even mentioned my own form of RTC for "boring or repetitive work" question for when I do motorway driving. Best of luck to all those who have progressed on to the next stage.

On my reject message it also states "We are likely to be recruiting again in the future for Apprentice Driver roles so please do keep an eye on our careers website". As the advert is still up or re-advertised and I can't see the closing date does this mean I can try again straight away?

Anyone heard anything new or has it all gone quiet ?

Seems Leeds & LKC start their course soon so maybe ours has died down for a while
It’s all gone quiet for me. I wonder if they have a batch they’re happy to interview and if they can’t recruit from that batch, they move on to the next?

I wonder if not having been asked for certificates is a bad thing or not. Can I be intrusive and ask if you have a degree? I do, and wondered if that was why they hadn’t asked for certificates. But then, my job also has quite the notice period - detailed on the CV - so they may have wanted to ask about that. I’m unsure!

I have 2 degrees and was asked for my GCSE certificates. I believe it’s a condition of the apprenticeship that you have maths and English GCSE so they have to have the evidence of that.

Thanks Rosy. I think I may just have not made the cut, or am just in a maybe pile at this point! Thanks for clarifying!

Hey. I was also asked for GCSE proof and notice the other day.
Wondering if anyone from the drivers pool for the Metro is on here?

I've heard from a very good source that they have sifted down to 60 for interviews however it's expected through previous expirience that a lot will then go on to fail the phycometrics.. And at this point I'd imagine they'll select some more for interviews until they have enough suitible pass the phycometrics to fill the positions.

I think they are just dealing with us in batches.. whilst ever we don’t have a rejection email I feel there is hope :)
Im inclined to agree as we know some have been rejected officially and seems like LNER do actually inform people either way so your right hope remains :)

Yes it might but end of the day no matter the batch if your good enough when your time comes you will make it

They could of course also be saving the best for last
Hello everyone. For the GCSE certicates regarding math and english , those who have got another diploma from another country, are those final marks subjects related to the end of age 16th or are they considered the final marks of math and english taken in the last year of the secondary school before attending the university? Thanks.
