I think a lot of my excitement for the 374 is that they are one of the only train types left to sample in the UK, the 803s with Lumo being the only other sort to try. Your post made me think of an Abba song :lol:
It made me too.
Won't somebody help him chase Velaros away

Dreadful! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

As soon as I read your post, I burst out laughing. Best post this week so far! I've got to share the video below, a Nightcore mix of Gimme Gimme Gimme now. I played it yesterday and, following your post, I can't help but play it again :lol:

In an attempt to return us to topic, I have a day off tomorrow and I would rather like to get out and do something. So there is a chance I'll be off chasing 196s, or maybe even some Chiltern stuff. I haven't decided!

A few from yesterday's trip to London prior to an evening out:

plus these now cleared for 10+ miles:

350410
450095

Is that what constitutes a 'clearance' these days, achieving ten miles?

I always understood a 'clearance' meant you'd had 1,000 miles behind a particular loco, is it different for units then?

You'll be lucky....tomorrow's a strike day and I don't think there'll be anything running from Hereford! You might be better off wrapping-up in your warmest gear and getting out on one of your bikes. :smile:

I must admit it's something I picked up from @Kite159.
Somehow a one mile trip between adjacent stations doesn't feel like a proper journey.

Just makes a mundane positioning journey or trip home a bit more interesting if there's a choice of unit in the consist.

I certainly wouldn't want to do 1000 miles on each London Overground unit.

It's something I picked up from an old member, Keith (I think).

How about on the Class 139s?

I used to record mileage from locos, but then just stopped bothering. Trying to accumulate mileage behind 87s on a West Midlands travelcard was a bit soul destroying.

A four and three quarter mile journey of solid thrash up the Worth Valley beats a 100 mile trundle anyway.

Aye I've since been genned up on that, the upper legs are playing up at the moment so cycling is a bit unlikely sadly. A day ticket on Stagecoach seems more likely!

Nice! I really need to get back to the North West and have a mighty big clearout, my wants list is far too full in that area for my liking!
You could combine 195 bashing with your Calder Valley cycle tour later in the year. There's an excellent cycle shop - Blazing Saddles - in Hebden Bridge, should you need any spares or repairs. (Sorry....getting a bit OT now!).

Now that is a quality idea, thanks!

23/12:
720107 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)
720110 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)
720114 (Liverpool Street -> Shenfield)
720513 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)
720514 (Stratford - Merdian Water & back to Stratford)
720523 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)
720524 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)
720531 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)
720537 (Liverpool Street -> Shenfield)
720586 (Stratford <-> Shenfield)

Cleared for mileage:
378216

Also, 450051 for renumbering

Not a bad day in London yesterday (at one point I had 4 required 720s on the bounce before they dried up), although I never did get onto the 710/1s from Liverpool Street before I needed to get to Waterloo for the earlier finish on SWR (and I believe they are not out again until the new year due to engineering works at Liverpool Street)
