Yes that's correct although the diagrams haven't begun as loco hauled sets yet.

Some ex grand central MkIV sets some are still in training. 82227 with
67 025 at its head on a further crew training/test run, which had arrived from Shrewsbury as 5Z79 and and departed for Crewe at 5Z80 was on north Wales coast railway notice board that's why they haven't loco hauled sets yet.

You're better off following the Mk4 thread for updates on this. HD01 (82226) is at Landore, HD02 (82229) at Canton, HD03 (82216) is at Crewe, HD04 and HD06 are at Canton and Crewe respectively for training. HD05 is at Canton broken and HD07 and 8 are at Landore.

The next proposed try for entry is HD04 and HD06 on the Holyhead diagrams from Monday 19th.

Thanks and guess what its out on 2E10 0541 Swansea to Pembroke Dock - 150285
Its ran/ is running an ECS from Cardiff canton to Swansea then has been bouncing back and forth imbetween Swansea and Pembroke dock until getting to Swansea at 17:18. Next it forms the 17:52 to Carmarthen before working the 18:50 to Cardiff central via Swansea (picking up 153329 and 153926 at Swansea.) Finally it works an ECS into Cardiff canton tonight.

Can anyone confirm how long the Northern Rail 150s are staying on loan with TFW. One of them was on a Swansea-Manchester today.

How many 158s are now booked outside of the Cambrian/Birmingham/Holyhead circuit. Before Covid there used to be 3 that came to South Wales and did various services including Maesteg/Ebbw Vale/West Wales. Its very rare to see a 158 in the South apart from at the weekends on Milford-Manchester or when covering for a 175 on Manchester workings during the week.

I've heard May 2023 for the 150 return to Northern. As to 158s, I believe there are a few diagrams out of the cambrian circuits, at least one on Cardiff Holyhead for sure.

23:09 Shrewsbury-Cardiff brings the 158 to Form 09:23 Cardiff-Holyhead, 14:33 Holyhead Cardiff, 19:41 Cardiff Holyhead not sure of any other booked weekday working outside of the usual Cambrian-Birmingham and Birmingham/Manchester-Holyhead workings

Thanks for confirming. I have seen a few 158s on Cardiff-Holyhead but wasn't sure if they were booked or just covering for 175s.

I think post #1938 is spot on. None booked west of Cardiff apart from occasional weekend work. However, they often stand in for 175s. Also, they come to Canton for tyre turning. Once done, they get sent out on any suitable diagram including the 150 diagrams that goes to Pembroke Dock.

Possibly because some of the 170s have gone to EMT. I assume once the remaining 170s go then any spare 175s and 158s will be used for former 170 diagrams.

It'll likely be any spare dmu to include 150 and double 153s

It’s still mainly the 3 coach 170s (all 2 coach ones went to EMR) but occasionally a sprinter pops up on it - usually a 150 but sometimes a 158 or double 153. They don’t have enough 170s left to cover both Ebbw Vale and Cheltenham so one will almost always appear on either of those lines.

There are six diagrams for the remaining eight units. The off-peak service to Ebbw Vale, Maesteg and Cheltenham Spa requires seven units so one is a 150. The 170 that would natually do the 16:33 to Ebbw Vale actually works the 17:20 to Maesteg so an eighth unit does the Ebbw Vale. It's either a 150 or a pair of 153s.

Don't forget you still need some activity in South Wales for crews to get duties on 158s to maintain competency.
