I agree with this, I think some events are a waste of money E.G there vintage photography workshop with 1 train running and only doing half the line; just why?
Vintage photography workshops are paid for in advance and are probably money spinners for the line, there is a coronation one coming up at £75 for the day, including training in photography. I am sure they would not happen if they were costing the railway.

Also gone (I think it departed the day before the castle).
7812 and 34027 are also away at the WSR.
Never new 34027 was going aswell - how long are they there for as my nearest heritage line is the SVR however, I am going on holiday at the end of August to dunster on the WSR?

I read that at a previous gala there were Kidderminster carriage shed tours available for a small charge. Does anyone know if these will be available during the diesel gala?

I went on one at the autumn gala, very good indeed and well worth the effort. Run by the Fifty Fund if I recall, we booked at their stand on the concourse at Kiddy. Keep an eye on their social media

Does anybody know how much money there 'survival fund' has raised?
Apparently coal prices have dropped by about £3000 since January so that is good news :)

GWR HST set off to the gala, presumably for more air braked stock -

3Z91 09:55 Laira to Worcester SH

5Z43 14:49 Worcester SH to Kidderminster SVR

Well thanks for this Jack... this really will be a fun gala if the railway does confirm this as a guest.

It's a sign of the times if an HST that's still active on the main line is being sent to appear at a diesel gala on a preserved railway.

I'm not sure that's what people go to these events for...

Arguably it says more about the mainline that it's still operating something that people consider fine for a preservation gala.

Mind you diesel galas have often had frontline service diesels there for a bit of variety.

Indeed although these are more often than not freight locos which cannot be enjoyed on passenger trains regularly on the main line, unlike a GWR HST!

Not the first time that main line rolling stock close to retirement has attended a diesel gala. The one that springs to mind is the Class 114 DMU that visited SVR from Tyseley in about 1990?

Correction: October 1989.
