I thought they might of been. So when the spares are on red arrow and routes which aren't usually allocated mmc's, will they now have voice announcements soon?
From what i was told yes but maybe by then we could have 9 coaches out.... yea...
Was on 304 yesterday and it had the stops on the screen but after the driver had to restart the vehicle it just remained on 'welcome to the villager' screen.

the villager use to have announcements until a couple of years ago so I don't see why they need recording again.
To bring them up to date with the current guy who does the voices for the current routes atm so mickelovers & Allestrees

Probably not got the recordings anymore, if it was unused they wouldn't keep the files

and also this

Yeah okay. It is always weird getting on the mmc's and not hearing the next stop. Normally on red arrow with 269 the screen wasn't working for a while so it wasn't as bad but the last time i got on it it was turned on again so it felt weird

At Kinchbus, the 11, 12 and Sprint all used to have audio announcements but now only the Skylink does. I don't know what happened but the others had all gone by the time I started riding buses again post-lockdown.

It was the ticket machine right? The old one use to have the capability. I have seen a video of red arrow coaches with announcements, the b7's as well. I dont think ticketer can do it when the old one they had could.

It was all stored on the ticket machine so when the Wellglade Group went through an upgrade it all needed redoing, which has obviously taken some time

I thought it all stopped when they changed the ticket machines.

Honestly, it's a shame that the (not so new anymore) ticketers removed the possibility of a physical mango card. While it is convenient to have everything on your phone, it just feels better to have something physical; surely there could've been a solution where having a card and an app could be accepted as methods of payments?
Whilst I'm rambling about mango, does anyone have any of the designs archived? Always found them fascinating for some reason, especially the pre 2018 ones. Didn't Trent also issue special edition ones?

I own a few Mango cards, an original card with a bow, as well as a 100 years golden one, which I'll try and find to share on here

You would think an ITSO compliant card would have worked; certainly if a bank card does.

Kinchkard is still a thing. This makes me wonder why Mango cards don't exist anymore, I'd honestly prefer to use it over the app
I stopped using TB when they ditched the card (well actually cashed in 5 months prior). I just use other buses now, partly down to the £2 fare, but also cos they go nearer to where I go. What does surprise me, is just how many people I know that also stopped. I guess for those not going to weekly/monthly cap, it makes little difference. But what if, the drop in passengers since COVID (that their MD talks about) was due to the end of the Mango card?

A card is just so much more convenient in my opinion. No farting around with phone charge or mobile signal.

If they're insistent on using an app, why not just run both concurrently? Or, just do what Stagecoach do with their smartcards

I agree. From a personal perspective, I lately realised that I can't be bothered with fumbling about with shop loyalty cards on my phone all the time, and have lately sent for physical cards from two supermarket chains. I usually order and pay at McDonald's with my phone, but I loathe it when the data on my phone runs out, which usually seems to happen rather too soon!

Much like an Oyster card in London. Who don't care who is running the service, you just tap and go. Just imagine how many more people might use buses if they were quicker (getting on) and easier. I could imagine an East Midlands card. No matter which operator you use, it just caps like the Robin Hood card.. I guess they need to address what puts people off using buses. I actually found myself walking more.

I just go to local shops as part of my walks...I keep getting a £4.50 voucher for Sainsbury's if I spend £30 in a set time. Can't think I went back in that timescale. With a card, you know you will travel. Seemingly some with contactless bank cards don't have that peace of mind

I didn't even know that was going! With Mango being available across trentbarton/Kinchbus you'd think they'd scrap the Kinchkard by now

I've found myself recently, if I know I'll certainly hit the mango cap, paying a little extra for the zigzag paper ticket, to reduce the hassle of the mango app which sometimes taps both the app and Google Pay, and sometimes doesn't load. With a paper ticket it scans instantly and you're onboard.

Many of my friends used to buy a paper Zigzag ticket too, even those that had the app. Now they rarely travel by bus.. The introduction of the app, gave formerly loyal passengers to walk away. Just think, all those people that used to have all that money in Trentbarton 's bank account. Would have been millions

The new H1s will be on show this Saturday in Derby, with a joint launch of H1s & Ilkeston flyers.

Up until now I’ve not actually seen a photo of a H1 branded up. I wonder if there will be munch difference between the ADLs & Volvos?

They all have a small difference from the original so I wouldn't be surprised if the H1's have a newer style.

I notice red arrow has 9 busses out for the second day in a row i'm fairly sure. Its not been full service all day but mostly which is an improvement. With 81 returned on Monday, today 84 returned leaving only 85 and 88 off road (and 87 which was in service yesterday). Definitely an improvement from the start of the year.

When coach 73 gets the new wheelchair lift and MOT, there will be further cover.

According to bustimes, Volvo 701 (ex Villager) has been repainted into Swift to cope with the timetable change.
Presumably 702 will join the swift as well then.

703 seems have spent the last few days on the connect and 35 in Hucknall.

Derby are covering some Connect/35 journeys with 703 as the dedicated vehicle. I believe it's to do with an up coming road closure

In total:
5 for the Villager
6 for the H1
6 for the Mickleover
6 8 for the Ilkeston Flyer
6 4 6? spares

Looking at BusListsOnTheWeb, I've found 31 registrations linked to the new order rather than only 29, which means the extra two buses for the Ilkeston Flyer would be an additional order, bringing the total to 31 new buses.

By my reckoning that puts the Mickleover batch as 314-319 and H1 as 320-325

Waiting for a bus this evening on Friar Lane, Nottingham in the rather unpleasant (Summer?) weather, it got me wondering:
Do Trentbarton provide any facilities of any description at that location for their drivers who are changing or taking up duties or do they just have to hang around in shop doorways until the incoming service arrives?

Maybe that’s what some of the bus they leave parked around town are used for(!)
