Its 471 again mate tried to change but the TM said no apprently when i asked
Oh makes sense, noticed the shed on wheels (492) has made it onto comet, I feel for whoever has to drive that.
I assume they'll just have had their ticket machines enabled for the first time. They didn't complete any journeys
With the villagers, they were swapped over on the Saturday night as they arrived, thought it would be the same case with the flyers to be honest.

What’s so bad about/wrong with 492?

It’s by far one of the worse Solo. From a passenger perspective it’s loud, slow, it rattles & vibrates like no other Solo.

From what I’ve been told by drivers, they feel the exact same way & most if not all drivers hate it when that turns up.

It seems the villager-branded buses aren’t having much luck, with 2 off (303 supposedly having an incident in the bus station & 304 being parked up on the dead lane at the bus station).

304 probably missed a turn. Think it was back out at 15.45

bus times currently shows only 302, 304 and 305 out at the moment. Doesn't look like a good afternoon with most journeys look to be loosing around 30 mins (presumably down to traffic lights in Hatton) and also some 2 hour gaps.

492 is the worst bus we have at Derby. I've driven it quite a few times and its awful in winter as the heating doesn't work. It is also very slow; basically every driver feels sorry for you when they see you driving it.

I've done two runs on the comet route in it and both times I was about 15 to 25 mins late getting back (plus countless runs on V3s as well).
I did have a look and yes with 4 way traffic lights in Hatton its causing chaos. I'm glad I was on comets and early ones at that.

Seems like Enviro 200MMCs 135 (branded for the i4) and 267 (Allestree) are both tracking on the Red Arrow. If they are really out there, I guess it saves a couple of coaches. Better mpg.

Would 135 mean Nottingham depot is covering?

Some of the i4 buses start and finish at the Derby depot. Indeed it looks like the diagram 135 was on starts in Nottingham and finishes in Derby.
Ah interesting I didn’t know that, thanks.

Well, the single fare before midnight is still £2. But take the normal fares. Allestree would go from £2.90 to £3.10. Who knows, maybe even more in 2025. Wonder if those fare increases affect the level of remuneration from the Government on the £2 fare (difference between that £2 and the normal fare?) Zigzags , weekly monthly, yearly caps all gone up. Night fares too. But it is interesting about the effect with contactless bank cards. What actually is the contactless limit, as not all businesses have it at £100.
Annual saver tickets have gone up 14% over the last two years but not a word of complaint from our MP's and trade unions. Why the difference between buses where increases are just accepted and railways where it would be headline news accompanied by protests.

Maybe it is a way of raising revenue, if they can't with the £2 fare remuneration.

So the new swift timetable is now live on the website.

Some interesting changes, the whole timetable looks to have been rewritten, including a new run to/from QEGs in Ashbourne (Queen Elizabeth Grammar School).

I believe back in the day the swift did go to QEGS in the morning and via in the afternoon.

Still there. Generally it is the Uttoxeter journeys stay the same route but the new shorts go via Langley Park but not Hill Top at Ashbourne. These also start/finish at Mayfield. In Uttoxeter the route seems to now be Tesco - Bus Station - Hawthornden Ave - Bus Station. Regarding the times it will be 05, 35 from Derby which would clash with the villager on the same bay and evening service will be hourly with the last bus back to Derby from Ashbourne at 0020!

New times for rainbow one, Ilkeston flyer and two are also available (from 14 July).

rainbow one: New 0428 Langley Mill - Ripley and 0445 Ripley - Nottingham. Current 0627 Kimberley - Ripley starts at Nottingham at 0600 (10 mins later on Saturday)

Ilkeston flyer and two
As expected these will combine to form a 10 min service to Cotmanhay from Ilkeston. Most peak journeys will continue to run the full routes.

I wonder if anyone has ever thought of merging the two together to create another through route between Nottingham and Derby, although I can't really see anyone much using the full route given that there are already three bus services between Nottingham and Derby, and of the four it would certainly be the longest.

Would be completely pointless. With the joint frequency Cotmanhay is still linked to Ilkeston every 10 mins, with buses every 20 to Nottingham & Derby.

On another note, I vividly remember Trentbarton using an excel to promote some show that was on at the assembly rooms in Derby, does anyone else remember this?

Yes, a bright yellow Optare Excel, that seemed to be based at an industrial unit on Mansfield Road. The play was carried out on the bus whilst it drove round. Was it 265? Skylink livery

That's just given me a thought. Do any Trent Excels still exist? There were a few preserved a few years ago, but I haven't seen anything on them recently.

264, as seen in the below photo. It was with Kinchbus during this, based at Derby

There were a few "preserved" but I think they suffered from Optaritis. And rotted away. Very few such integrals survived.

Former Villager branded Volvo/Wright 703 has seen use around Hucknall today. I guess it was a spare vehicle.

I believe 703 plus a Derby based driver will go on loan each day to cover a Sutton based service, as they are short on both vehicles and drivers. I'm not sure how long that arrangement will last

No not yet they are in the process of being recorded so will be on them soon. Plus to add to this all buses must have at least from i was told voice annoucments by October to be in line with the new disablity guidelines.

I thought they might of been. So when the spares are on red arrow and routes which aren't usually allocated mmc's, will they now have voice announcements soon?

Was on 304 yesterday and it had the stops on the screen but after the driver had to restart the vehicle it just remained on 'welcome to the villager' screen.

the villager use to have announcements until a couple of years ago so I don't see why they need recording again.
