What on earth happened to this Sheffield - Leeds via Castleford service?! (On time but Castleford call cancelled, then long delay at Woodlesford)

No, the stopper was 2 coaches, as was the fast. The stopper was held outside Leeds for the fast train to get around it and go into Platform 17 first, so not to mess up their next workings. This can be seen in RTT, although you need to look closely.

What on earth happened to this Sheffield - Leeds via Castleford service?! (On time but Castleford call cancelled, then long delay at Woodlesford)

Indeed, there was no delay to this train at Woodlesford, it simply waited until booked departure time. Looking at the wider impact of this occurrence, there would have been a 12 minute delay to anyone travelling to Castleford and a much more significant half an hour delay to anyone intending to...

    SRPS Railtours news

It was indeed a typo - and has subsequently been corrected to the more expected 2 x 37's!

    Velim Test Track

Whilst I haven't been for some time, I have been there on a number of occasions. As has already been described, Cerhenice is the station you want, not Velim. That said, next to Velim station is the exchange siding, which sometimes holds stock on transfer to/from the test track. If you fancy...

Has the Burger King at York shut?

So, 21:30 on a Saturday night (i.e. just now), a queue at Lebeneat, whilst Burger King was shut!

Has the Burger King at York shut?

Ooh, that's so cynical, you're probably spot on! Especially somewhere like York, where hotel rooms regularly command exorbitant prices...

Has the Burger King at York shut?

I'm both surprised and disappointed to hear "The Longboat" has fallen victim to the idiotic "hotel guests only" policy recently implemented at many Premier Inn restaurants. Over the years, I've had some very enjoyable meals in there with the family - albeit not breakfast.

Has the Burger King at York shut?

Being a local, I don't feel any need to use it, but have noticed that, ever since Covid, it's often shut when you'd expect it to be open and vice versa! There are often queues on Saturday evenings - well, when it's actually open!

LNER Azuma on Platform 8 @ York

800201 was used for train/platform measurements on the 30th of October, in readiness for these trains inevitably using platform 8 at various times, given the new service.

Inverness to Glasgow Queens Street, via Stirling

Stirling station features some really lovely architecture (especially the concourse area) and was recently refurbished, so is well worth a look if you decide to stick to your booked journey. As well as very good canopies over the main platforms, there is a proper waiting room in the main...

    RealTimeTrains website

I checked various GWR, EMR and LNER services at around 07:50 this morning and the only things showing allocations were those that were already allocated late yesterday evening. When I checked again an hour or so later, they were all showing.

Why did the class 91s need a flat cab for freight operations?

That photo is an excellent find - and thanks for confirming my memory was reasonably accurate!
