as with any of these positions sounds very competitive. Good luck to everyone in for Cambs. A course in April is a fast turn around considering they opened recruitment not long ago!
I heard 20spaces but 6 are for transferees.
They are to help cover the training needed for in cab signalling so need to get them productive as soon as poss. Plus we have had quite a few retire recently.

Any idea how many courses there are this year and how many positions available. I've seen on various threads up to 20

Do they train people in the order they join the company or is it like the MṰR Élizabeth Line were people were arbitrarily placed for training on either the East or the West and as a result trainees could find themselves waiting months for a DI while people who joined the company and depot after them were trained and qualified first?

Kinda. There is a DI shortage and a lot of hornsey drivers were paired with kx drivers to learn a route they would never sign and drive a traction they would never sign. But having said that, the kx DIs are excellent and you would learn the fundamentals of driving and you go on the mainline anyways so it wasn't all in vain. Some trainees were lucky to get paired with a welwyn/hitchin di who covered their routes and traction If your going to be based at welwyn or Cambridge you would be allright as they have plenty of DIs readily available.

I am unfortunately yet to hear back from either Cambridge or Welwyn... Not really sure what to think or do.

Should I consider emailing? But to who if so.

I've checked my application on the GTR website and it is active.

I know it’s easy for me to say, but until they tell you ‘no’, you are still in with a chance.
I was told at my DMI that they are working through in batches

I'm not sure how far I got down, my resolution was a but strange on it, I just had to keep scrolling to show more. Had about 6 or 7 lines on display at a time. I don't think its possible to actually complete the whole page.. not with out losing any accuracy any way.

You're not expected to complete the entire page.

I imagine there are people out there who can but its definitely overkill.

Hi,

Im the same for the Welwyn position. Completed the application and assessment on the 26/01.

I have read on here ppl saying no news is good news, but im worried the application is “lost in transit”.

Hey!

Yes, unfortunately so.

I actually applied for both and I'm yet to hear back from any.

Manager at Cambridge told me 20. But I don't know how many are new and how many will be qualified. I would think 2 courses and was told april/may time as they need to get them qualified in time for the training on in cab sig. But as its the railway it will be whenever they get around to it.

Cambridge doesn't get trainees very often and has quite a few di already and is doing interviews for new dis presently so you're not likely to have to wait too long. Welwyn on the other hand not so great.

Having failed a DMI at another toc recently would I be exempt from applying for this, or does that only apply to the toc I failed with? This is actually one of two Tocs I have been wanting to apply for.
DMI have no relevance to how many attempts you have. the OPC on the other hand you can only attempt twice.

Just got an email from mini scaat for welwyn. Unfortunately failed. Bit annoying as I did well on the practice paper ones.

Hi, can anyone guide me on the difference between the DMI and MMI interviews for GTR DMI
Ive done both recently
The DMI was more personal and relaxed there was a few get to know a bit about you questions to relax you and then 6 or 7 structured questions

The MMI you already know the questions you are going to answer as you answered them at your assessment centre so just study your answers in lots of detail and you’ll be fine

MTR Elizabeth Line took in a number of trainees every month for a depot. But they would split that trainees up. T h o se w ho got trained on the E a st would be t r aine d straight away, but those who got trained on the West would have to wait until a DI became available. They had Trainees waiting for months for a DI while drivers who'd joined the same depot after them were trained straight away. The payrise was on qualification, so they had trainees waiting in messrooms for a DI while drivers at their depot who'd joined after them got qualified and put on full money. Seems outrageous and really unfair.

Same does anyone know what the assessment entails?

Also is it assessment first then DMI and MMIs?

They will email you a pack about the tests and then I'll suggest copying and pasting the individual tests on the search bar here to get more information. I think GTR do assesment first, DMII and then a MMI
