Caught travelling using a child ticket - adult

You engaged in deliberate fare evasion - buying a child ticket is never a mistake - so were not deserving of sympathy. The fact that you used contactless to exit the barrier will count for nothing, and you should now expect GTR to look into your ticket buying history for previous occurrences...

    East Midlands Parkway “premium”?!

Long Eaton also has Off Peak Day tickets, unlike East Midlands Parkway, which are quite a bit cheaper than Off Peaks and also drive down the ceiling for Advance fares.

Travelling from Greater Manchester to London

I think most of us do get the latest fares, by default. We can see earlier fares but only by selecting the relevant dates.

Project Oval: TfL win DfT contract to expand contactless system to 233 rail stations by May 2024, Railcards coming to contactless payment cards

The contactless area is completely irrelevant to the availability of paper tickets. If Cambridge North is outside the area, it's outside.

    Northern Penalty Fare Advice

Was this a Penalty Fare Notice issue to you at the time or something received in the post referring to a Fixed Penalty? Either way, can you post a copy of the paperwork you have received with you personal details redacted.

    SWR barriers refusing ticket today

You can if you can find a ticket office or TVM that will sell that ticket for smartcard fulfilment.

    Leeds to Northampton, via Wellingborough?

Most of the time Nottingham to Wellingborough requires a change at Kettering, while Sheffield requires an additional change at Leicester.

Could new report from Transport Focus Help 1st time offences *which were unintentional*

And at what point in the journey from Peterborough to Horsham or Bedford to Brighton do you conclude that 95% have been checked?

    Leeds to Northampton, via Wellingborough?

Or perhaps we could just call it Wellingborough as that is the town that it serves, albeit on the eastern side. The services at Wellingborough are no better for northbound travel than they are from Northampton.

Should the UK introduced laws requiring all businesses to accept cash.

That isn't the card's problem, it's the user's problem. And cards and accounts can be set up to not allow an overdraft.

Stopped whilst accidentally using my mum's Disable Freedom pass

It's worth bearing in mind that the cost of engaging a solicitor is likely to be in the region of £700. This is likely to be more than the amount you will have to pay in fine and costs if the matter goes to court.

    Bustitution. Can I go earlier?

I doubt that anyone would care in the slightest. Even if there is a 'reservation' for the LNER bus it will be completely theoretical. I'm not sure why you would think it is or might be excluded.

Should the UK introduced laws requiring all businesses to accept cash.

Yes, did that regularly through the 1970s and well into the 1980s. And cheques were a pain otherwise - unfortunately, Barclays didn't issue separate cheque guarantee cards so I got a Barclaycard and managed to load up with debt that I dragged around for many years.

Abolishing peak and off peak fares?

Exacerbated by the bar on using railcards in the morning peak in the south-east, meaning that peak fares are almost 3 times the off-peak fare.

Abolishing peak and off peak fares?

I was referring to the GTR Friday off-peak Experiment.

Southern refusing to reimburse taxi - advice please!

It would take churlishness to a degree that even Southern haven't yet reached to argue that they are not taxis.

If it was that easy there wouldn't be anomalies.

    LNER Smart Save

There was a suggestion at one time that it would be applied to flexible tickets as well but that idea was, fortunately, quashed!
