    Owning vs Leasing a car

That is exactly my thinking. He want something newer that has better fuel economy. Sorry I got my numbers mixed up. He only has to make a £1,000 contribution. There is no remaining period exactly although he is paying £300 per month. To pay off the remaining £7500. This will take 2 years...

    Owning vs Leasing a car

We have an issue as one of is not very good with money. I have a bit of a conundrum I wanted to share with you: He currently owns a Ford that he bought for £10,000 on finance. He still owes a large amount left on it and has lost money as he owes more that the £7,500 it is worth. His monthly...

    Ticket Office Services post closure

What are they intended for then? Only scenario I can think of is frequently visiting an elderly relative in the hospital until they inevitably die.

    Windows 10 auto update?

If you were going to bed, there would have been no harm in simply allowing it to do the updates and then shut down. There is even an option for this on the start menu. Sadly, if you keep delaying the updates, eventually you will no longer be able to postpone them any longer. This clearly...

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

I can understand how it is slightly misleading to depict a photo of an EMR train that displays Luton Airport on its departure board. However, this style of advertising is very common these days. For example, inside the terminal there are similar Thameslink adverts, with the tagline that "London...

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

This is true, although it has not stopped us still writing postal towns on letters today as opposed to simply a door number and post code

Rail connections should cater for early airline flights

Unfortunately, you struggle with great difficulty. I once flew back from Turkey to Luton and slept on the floor from 23:30 to 08:00 before taking the Thameslink down to St Pancras and taking the Eurostar to Amsterdam to save money on hotels

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

Who? Apparently the person who created this thread does for example. They are not happy that the train does not terminate at Luton Airport as per the photo but continues onwards to Corby

    Begging getting worse on trains?

You might have been on the same train as me. I travelled back from Newcastle on Monday and was approached by several beggars all wanting money just out side St Pancras. I offered one of them an un-opened tuna sandwich and was told they don't like tuna. Beggars can't be choosers as they say

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

Because after Luton it continues to Corby as a semi fast service

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

What is also not debatable is that the area was formally Middlesex until 1965, as you should aware. The airport was built long before Middlesex was encompassed by Greater London. To date if you look at Heathrow‘s website their addresses is still Hounslow, Middlesex.

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

In the 1930s when the airport was built, most of the other area was Middlesex

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

Hmmm debatable these days as the Greater London boundary has extended much too far. Heathrow is only just inside M25

Luton Airport Express - Misleading Ads?

Or the fact that Gatwick, Standsted and Luton all have advertising for well known London landmarks when they all located some way out of London and despite your boarding pass, the plane does not land in central London and you must pay for a train or coach ticket on top of your flight to reach...

    M6 Toll

W We always avoid it due to the extortionate cost and travel along the A5 instead - almost following the West Coast Mainline At night before 10pm we also use the Blackwall Tunnel over the Dartford Crossing to save a few pounds when it is less busy

WCML southern end future. What you would like to see

That makes no sense whatsoever. The slower option should always be cheaper. Otherwise, everybody (well, most) will use that instead of HS2. Same as what happened on our Charing Cross services when they were slow down by 25 minutes after HS1 opened. Time is money and people want to spend less...

    Special Offers Discussion

C'est la vie, always going to be the case of buyers remorse. Not much you can do sadly. An advance may go up or down in price too. If demand stayed high for those journeys the price may have stayed at £1. Probably only gone down to 10p as nobody is buying those tickets
