Are the enhancements going to be affected by this deal?

    A career as a signaller

I applied for signalling roles 3 times over the last 2 years, and have been unsuccessful each time. In December I applied for the role of Grade 5 Train Delay Attributor, and today found out I was successful. Pay grade is exactly the same as a signaller. It was my ambition to go into signalling...

    Caledonian Sleeper

In terms of running the trains, there's enough time operationally to go back on the decision. The issue is, 30 services/destination pairs over 3 days, almost full have been refunded and cleared. Trying to sell those out again might be impossible and logistically difficult for previous passengers...

    Caledonian Sleeper

I wonder if CS will un cancel their cancelled services now, given the strikes are off, and their services by their own admission are likely to be very busy

    A career as a signaller

Cheers. I had my interview on Tuesday afternoon. After the interview they said they were continuing to interview into Wednesday, but hopefully you would find out within 3 days. Today is 3 days and nothing so far. I'm not at all confident in any case, but we'll see what occurs.

Anybody know how long do NR typically take to contact after an interview in either the positive or negative?

    A career as a signaller

I've been invited to an interview for the crossing keeper role above. Will do some good swotting and keep all my fingers crossed!

    A career as a signaller

ROC. There was a vacancy listed for about a week which closed on the 14th November, looking to fill 6 positions, starting February. It seemed quite unusual in terms of numbers required. I work for a TOC and only became aware of the vacancy when a signaller at my station was chatting to me after...

    A career as a signaller

I was wondering this too. I smashed an application in before the deadline, and was invited to take 3 online assessments yesterday. The dots and the shapes were fine, absolutely no idea about the psycometric bit.

Rail Franchises to be Replaced with Fixed Fee Contracts

I'm working on Monday morning at 6am. Potentially, not knowing who my employer is!

Rail Franchises to be Replaced with Fixed Fee Contracts

Still nothing from my company. It's all a bit scary.

Rail Franchises to be Replaced with Fixed Fee Contracts

It's getting down to the wire! 3 days until my company potentially doesn't operate anymore. It is most bizaare we've got to this point without any clarification.

    GWR Paddington

You won't hear anything at the moment. The moment lockdown happened, the training schools closed. They are slowly beginning to get back open with restrictions/distancing, but newly recruited drivers at SWR are being told they won't now start until the new year, I imagine the same is true for...

    SWR Guard Job London

If a maths test is required, it will be done at the assessment centre in Southampton.

    Application help

How exactly would an employer know what you know and don't know? Also, you might think you know about a particular process, but not the reason behind, the methodology or the reasoning, or the technical terms/industry jargon. When you're being trained, you are trained from a zero starting point...

New starter - Covid-19 impact on employment

At the moment, almost all recruitment is on hold until the lockdown eases. So I'd consider that normal, or expected.

Applying for a job during lockdown

I was employed by SWR on the 23rd March. Went to the the corporate induction on the 23rd. Lockdown happened that evening, the following day I was told all training was postponed, wait for further instructions. That was almost a month ago. The first pay packet has gone in and I'm incredibly...

New starter - Covid-19 impact on employment

My start date for my RO2 position was 23rd March in Southamptom. The corporate induction went ahead on this day, we signed all the forms got on payroll and then were sent to Waterloo to pick up uniform. Then the government did the nationalising thing, and then the lockdown in the afternoon and...

    Rail Operator 2 SWR

All arithmetic. Addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Nothing else, no fancy stuff. The other tests I needed the whole time, this one didn't get noticably harder as the questions got towards 30. After the assessment, the lady taking care of us said to go suited and booted for the...

    Rail Operator 2 SWR

Guildford. Have a medical on the 9th March in Waterloo. Pending that, references and DBS which are both a formality, I start on the 23rd March.
