    PKP reservations

Yes, most IC/TLK trains operate with very high load factors - this will be exacerbated during public holidays and the day(s) between public holidays and weekends. Below is a screenshot of occupancy forecasts (in Polish) for all trains to Zakopane on 1st May operated by PKPIC - anything in red...

Przemysl to Warsaw via Lancut 23/05/25.

Regulated fares on PKP Intercity have not been increased in the last 10 years. They tried to put the prices up in 2023 by ~11% but there was severe backlash and it was rolled back.

    PKP reservations

Try booking a seat reservation through the DB website for EC40 for Rzepin > Berlin - there appear to be seats available but PKPIC can't issue an interrail reservation for some reason. You'll likely have to stand between Poznan and Rzepin.

    PKP reservations

EC40 is fully sold out in 2nd class today. Reservations are not mandatory up to Rzepin - see "W komunikacji międzynarodowej [R]" below, which translates to "Reservations compulsory for international passengers" - which is why PKP is happy to let you book as far as Rzepin.

Planned 387 and 377 cascades to Southern and Southeastern in 2025

Around 24 387's are going south (this number will fluctuate for maintenance reasons).

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

It looks like all of the Letchworth class 379 diagrams have gone back to 700/0 operation.

Service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Could be related to the fact that on both days the service was operated using 700/0's instead of 379's.

Service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Baldock is unstaffed in the evening peak, so it would be the driver alone de-training at Baldock.

Class 701 'Aventra' trains for South Western Railway: progress updates

According to the article, the primary issue is that DfT insisted on a five year lease for the entire fleet, which the ROSCOs feel is too short. ROSCOs put up the leasing costs by 10-20% as a result. Link...

465s to Dover Priory, now confined to history?

For Southeastern services, RailChecker uses deduction based on the formation data published through Darwin to work out the train type (@brad465 has explained it pretty much bang on).

Service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

On my commute in recent weeks I have noticed an increase in situations where a Thameslink train scheduled to run fast between Stevenage and Finsbury Park makes an additional unscheduled operational stop at Welwyn GC to pick up/set down a driver, which results in a delay of three to five minutes...

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

Not sure if already mentioned here, but there appears to be a new Class 379 diagram - 1Q11 went past me as 2x379’s.

    RealTimeTrains website

Network Rail intend to publish GEMINI data as open data through Rail Data Marketplace imminently, which may mean that unit allocations for most operators will become publicly accessible.

The short forms were formed of Networkers, not Electrostars.

    Thameslink 'planning error' cancellations

On all 3 days mentioned the service was cancelled due to a shortage of train crew. TRUST cancellation codes (which is what you see on RTT) are not the same as public facing cancellation reasons, which are usually more descriptive. No, as there is a Luton train 44 minutes after.

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

Network Rail has changed how they gauge clear trains since the 387's were introduced. AIUI, it's now computer based (no actual gauge clearing runs) and according to the simulation it is out of gauge at Alexandria Palace. Despite the almost (if not) identical dimensions, the 379's cannot inherit...

New units for Northern - shortlist of manufacturers

Northern has put out a tender looking for financiers for the new fleet: https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/Notice/006601-2025

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

They attempted to do a set swap to a 700/0 for the evening service but that unit also failed at Hornsey so the train was cancelled.

Great Northern Fleet - 379s introduction

The morning southbound services are much busier (Darwin says usual crowding is between 70% and 100% by Welwyn North on 1R07 for example). Evening services are generally less busy but that's true for basically all commuter services now as the demand is spread out more evenly, there is also less...

The press release contains the following: So it appears that the majority of the “maintenance holdings” units will be at Lovers Walk.
