RailUK gets a mention in the Daily Mail

Security contractors occasionally work with us in the Thames Valley, but not all the time, it generally depends on the time and location as to whether they are needed or not.

Railcard app version suddenly not supported

I've come across this a few times while checking, it seemed to load after awhile for everybody I've come across but it's very strange and rather irritating. Not sure what's causing it but your certainly far from on your own

Reading TVMs - buy from other stations

There are two different types of TVMs at Reading, the S&B machines (which the picture is of) can't issue from a different origin, the worldline machines (with the big screens) can, although they can only be found by the main gateline opposite the ticket office.

E-ticket "battery" issue - is names on tickets an option for a fix?

I personally carry a power bank (work issued) and charger with the most common types of phone charger on (I got that myself) when I check tickets. It comes in incredibly handy and saved at least one passenger somewhere in the region of £100 for a new ticket. On the other hand those that are...

    GWR IET seat reservations

You can request a specific seat at the ticket office, but if that seat is reserved you'll just have to keep trying till you get one that isn't.

    e-tickets and TfW ticket gates

I'm assuming the ticket was either an advance or an anytime ticket, which would make what they said strange, however most gatelines I've come across aren't particularly clever and will only let through off-peak tickets after a set time (usually just before the last off-peak service departs that...

Yes, so long as you are only breaking it that day and not overnight

Ah well, fingers crossed it'll be fine theno_O

    Caledonian Sleeper

Uh oh  I wonder if west coast railways would hold the jacobite for a minute or two if the sleeper was slightly late, I assume not but then I think they have a decent amount of slack built in so you never know:lol:

    Caledonian Sleeper

How reliable is the Fort William portion generally? I'll be going up to do the jacobite in a couple of weeks and will have about quarter of an hour in Fort William between trains, so hoping the sleeper is on time

Why the T-key for West Croydon terminators?

    Ah that was it!

Why the T-key for West Croydon terminators?

I went through a train with the dispatcher whilst they were locking it out a while ago, the 345 had a sort of 'offline' mode (can't remember what it was called) that the driver activated, meaning that the doors could only be opened from the inside. We walked through closing any open doors and...

Trainsplit charging booking fee? (Edit: my mistake, they’re not)

I do like the way trainsplit works (particularly how clear it is about what the validity actually is), I always used to buy through trainsplit, I'm afraid I don't anymore (I buy at station tickets offices but still look up on trainsplit - sorry priv is responsible for that  ) but I do...

Resumption of hourly Cardiff to Paddington services

There's definitely at least one GTR 387 at Reading TCD (just seen it from my train, certainly adds a splash of colour to the depot!)

Anti-maskers given free roam to post

Life would be boring if I didn't have people to disagree with

Unable to get renew Priv loaded onto Oyster.

Last time I managed to get it done at Willesden junction ticket office straight away, I'll probably head there this time again

    GWR seat reservations

You may well be right, I'm not entirely sure if the system will book two seats next to each other that aren't from the same booking yet or not, maybe it is

    GWR seat reservations

I believe aisle seats are now reservable for dates after the 19th, not sure why it's not offering any window seats though

Golden Ticket Competition To Win A Years Free Travel

Although the chances are of course remote, it's free entry so you don't lose anything either way, certainly worth a punt. I won't however be entering as I have priv rate and would seem selfish to reduce others chances of winning when I don't really need it myself (although it would be nice:lol:)
