0A90 derailed at Bletchley sth jcn. All lines currently blocked. Anyone using virgin or LM between Euston and Milton Keynes Ctl are advised to seek alternative routes.

I do not know the extent of the incident ie high or low speed but I hope the train driver and others involved are well.

TRUST shows it as 90046. It departed Crewe 33 minutes early at 0030 and last reported passing Bletchley at 0226, 84 minutes early. 1M16 2047 Inverness to Euston caped at Preston and standing in platform 3 with 90036 on.

LM have just tweet a don't travel message out. They've expect this to be very very bad.

Pardon my ignorance but what is a BRUFF.

It is a specialist Emergency Rescue Vehicle that will usually have equipment to be able to re-rail trains.

Thanks LM. Is there not one any closer than Crewe. I would have thought there would be one in the London/South East Area.

Depends where the (limited number of) staff that know how to use it are based / on duty. Probably already be there by now, I read an old control message.

Was 90036 not on 1M11, the Glasgow to Euston sleeper with 90021 on the Inverness one?

I notice on the LM Tweet that there is a chance it won't be cleared until Lunch Time is this a reasonably accurate estimate of the time scale as I was planning to go to London today. Not via London Midland but FCC.

Perhaps they should get the voyagers running from the north via the Chiltern line. They did it 13 months ago.

It is a Freightliner loco operated for VT. Apparently it is a bad one with driver being treated for injuries. RAIB are on scene.

Apologies, misread my scribblings, the locomotive is 90021. Train still stood there empty and all locked up at 0620.
Empty at 0620? If I was a passenger on that I would have preferred the option to sleep in until a reasonable hour and then arrive London rather late via Leeds. Some passengers would of course want to get to London as soon as possible and leave the train in the early hours.

Of course you'd've needed a loco swap to do that.

I was on the southbound Highland sleeper. I was woken at 4.50 and given the choice of either a taxi to Crewe or a coach to London. I chose the taxi

What is the latest on this? Is the driver ok?

What damage has it done?

Out of curiosity, why would the sleeper have been stopped at Preston and not somewhere further south, such as Crewe?

Slow lines apparently have OLE damage. Fast lines extensive track damage. Slow lines hopefully open by around lunchtime/the afternoon. Fast lines will remain shut

Capacity I imagine. It may divert to London via an alternative route.

Not if the passengers were all off by 5am!! Very poor show (notwithstanding that we don't know all the facts). As you say, I'd much prefer to stay in my sleeper bunk until the train arrives in London after being dragged by a diesel - seeing as by definition that is what will happen to it anyway.

Do we know if the Driver of the Class 90 is ok?

Secondly, will the Sleepers run tonight via the ECML?
