421 was out last Friday just gone attached to 322482. 720s had a poor day back end off last week due to new trains not liking the sudden change in temperature from very cold to very warm.
421 was active even rode it to colchester before doubling back to shenfield to ride a extra afternoon unexpected ride on a pair off 315 due to 345 failure
321440 was also out on Friday it appears a few might have returned. However a lot off 720s was being tested despite some failures. Maybe some have a executed list off stay before withdrawal maybe services busier.
However a lot more people are travelling non enthusiasts a lot more. So maybe demand. However 421 and 440 are active again well was on Friday the 2 23rd April 2021.

Goes to show how unreliable the new trains are.

321.430 was moved from the platform carriage road at Clacton since I last saw it. Has it gone to Parkeston?
Don't think so

Thats good, would that mean there is a chance that the Non PRM 321's may run after their dispensation?

They will only run if they are granted another dispensation. I wouldn’t be surprised if such a dispensation mandates they must run with a PRM compliant set (ie with a Renatus, 321/9 or 322).

I have a quick question - any idea as to when the first Renatus’ will start to disappear? I assume around June / July?

I think there's around 70 to 75 non-Renatus 321 EMUs to be replaced, so I expect 321301-330 will be around for a good number of months yet.

Thanks, but I'm not sure it's that many left - well over thirty have been withdrawn now.

GA have 81 Class 321/322s in total, including the 30 Renatus sets and the PRM-modified 321/9 and 322 sets. That includes everything that hasn't gone for scrap, so there may well be several of those that are already stopped.

Thanks for that, much appreciated.

I'd have assumed only once sufficient 720s are reliably in place to cover for everything that used to be operated by 360s, 317s and the rest of the 321 fleet. Unless of course reduced timetabling is to continue into next year. I'd be surprised if any of them disappear before 2022 unless there's a major issue with a particular unit.

The reduced timetable is due to end in September as things stand so the Renatus units could be around for quite a while yet.

Apologies, in hindsight my wording was pretty dreadful!

What I should have said was "There are still around 70/75 EMUs left to replace before getting to the Renatus spec 321s".

I asked this in the 317 withdrawal page but hitherto no reply: do no scrap moves take place on weekends?

.I would image 311 would be the first renatus unit to go off lease, hence it’s debranded livery
.All of the 321’s are meant to go off lease by end of july
.Maybe June- pending the continued successful rollout of the 720’s and service demand

311 lost it’s branding through the washer plant after being graffitied a couple of years ago.

It hasn’t been debranded

Sad to see that 361 Phoenix is withdrawn, I was rather hoping it would be the last of this lot to be withdrawn.

I saw a point about the 321/4s being newer. The 321s were built in several batches so some of the later 321/3s being taken for scrap entered service on the Great Eastern in 1990 after the first 321/4s at Euston. I will have all of the dates eventually. There's little difference when we're talking about 31 year old units.
