43208/296 had been in SCEL (Angel Train stored locos at Ely), the 6 434xx hadn't been transferred out of the EMPC pool. What pool had they been sat in between finishing at EMR and the move to SXCL? Have they just been moved from one stored loco pool to another?

Yes. Brain/finger interface trouble!I think that should be 308 rather than 208
Have these ones at Eastleigh been scrapped then? Do Eastleigh scrap or will they go from there to somewhere like Sims?
SCXL may not be a brand new fresh out of the box pool code but it is now 'Angel Trains/Hanson & Hall Power Cars' and contains no other power cars whatsoever
SCXL now appears to have been renamed 'Angel Trains Hire Locomotives' and has had the damaged 43140 added to it
It hasn’t been renamed. It has always been the Angel Trains stored locomotives pool.SCXL now appears to have been renamed 'Angel Trains Hire Locomotives' and has had the damaged 43140 added to it
43056 43069 43078 43087 43193 & 43197, all currently in store at Long Marston, have been reallocated from the SBXL store pool back to the GWR EFPC pool.
More castle sets? Or just wrong? There may well be no usable parts to recover from 43140 given the scale of the damage (particularly fire damage).
WNXX also notes that:
What's that about then?
43056 would be an odd choice - it and 43053 were always non-standard in the GWR fleet (new control electronics, which none of the others had although all other fleets did eventually - excluding Scotrail which are of course all ex-GWR).Hmm, the bit about the 6 power cars being reallocated to the GWR pool is particularly interesting, as I have heard from a fairly good source recently that precisely 6 power cars where to be converted shortly for use on the night riviera to replace the 57s. I discounted it at the time but this makes me wonder......
It’s actually 7. 43196 is also back in the GWR pool.Hmm, the bit about the 6 power cars being reallocated to the GWR pool is particularly interesting, as I have heard from a fairly good source recently that precisely 6 power cars where to be converted shortly for use on the night riviera to replace the 57s. Isn't that the spares donor? It’s actually 7. 43196 is also back in the GWR pool.
No, it’s stored at Burton and was off lease.Isn't that the spares donor?
Yes! Sorry got them mixed upNo, it’s stored at Burton and was off lease.
Are you thinking of 43195 with accident damage?
Would that be 2 per train to save the faffing about each end with separate locos for the ECS?Personally itd be a shame as I like driving the 57 but I think power cars are inevitable on the sleeper now sooner or later
Almost certainly, one power car in autumn on load 9 probably wouldn't be a great success.Would that be 2 per train to save the faffing about each end with separate locos for the ECS?
There wouldn’t. Design work was done some time ago on a mod for power cars or stock to convert train supply. There was a proposal to use Mark 4 stock between power cars and the design was done for that. There would have to be generator coaches for the sleeper services, incompatible electric supply on the HSTs.

You need to take the entire rake out of service to do it, though. I’d actually put the kit on the stock (BFO/BSO logically) so you could use any power car. Yes, they’ll still need to put 36-way cables through, but that can be done one vehicle at a time.Surely as it's Mk3s here the most logical would be to convert the stock to 3-phase supply (or dual supply if they want to retain the ability to work with locos)? Otherwise they would be converting 3-phase to standard ETS and back to 3-phase again.
Would also allow all power cars to be used rather than a dedicated pool.

They could. But easier to put one box in one coach to convert than to re-wire the entire fleet.Couldn't they do one at a time if they dual-wired them? Royal train seems to be done that way.
