Just to let you all know, when I did my training it was at my home depot but them who were based elsewhere were able to claim for fuel and there were also a couple who were lodged because of the distance.

I assume this is after the initial classroom stage?

Where are you based?
I had a look at Eastleigh, and it consists of a few portacabins - can't imagine much classroom stuff going on there.
TBH I don't know what to expect, I know I have the job - although sometimes that doesn't seem real as nothing on paper yet - but no idea of the training process.

Same boat for me. My notice is in, accepted and last day is 1st January! Regarding the Urine test results, has anyone received them by post? I was told by the Capita nurse that I would receive a copy in the post, but I'm still waiting!

Hi, applied in the last advert as well and chose Dollands Moor. Reading this thread the HR team are obviously busy sorting out the last set of candidates, though the concerning thing is it appears that they are booking people on to courses in January and May. This suggests that the next set may not start till possibly September, so we may find that we have a bit of a waiting game for the next assessment centre.

Just wondering if anyone darn sarf has been lined up for the January course at Knottingley and would be interested in trying for a mutual swap for Toton. Not sure if I'll be able to understand the accents anywhere below Yorkshire....

Crazy, I'm in a similair boat as are a few of us mate , last shift is 29th. I've sent back all the required paperwork (pension / uniform/acceptance etc) so I would hope we will hear more this week.

Has anyone else had anything further such as Joining instructions or where/who to report to on the 6th etc ?

Shedmaster..... What depot are you going to ?

Still waiting here! I take it everyone had to send in the passport and passport sized picture? Hopefully I will hear something this week.

In fact, I hope I hear something this week as my locker is cleared out, last day in work is tomorrow (although official last day is 1st January, but with leave it is tomorrow)!

Well done to the guys that have had the responses and confirmation. I don't know whats going on with mine. Popped into the HR office on another errand and thought I would enquire as to whether DBS had been on touch for a reference. Nothing! Getting jumpy now as the 6th January date is getting closer and closer.

I also spoke to my manager today and also heard nothing with regards to a reference. Not sure when we will receive actual contract through the post?? DBS received the offer of employment as well all the other requested documents last Monday so not sure what happens or when we will receive joining instructions??

Rob Ive just got home to find a card from the postie saying my letter can be collected on Monday ......I wasn't home so it's gone back to the sorting office !!!!

GUTTED!!!!

Still at least I know what it is now , does the letter say what hotel we are being put in or when we can arrive ? I was planning on going over on Sunday night rather than first thing Monday on 6th? I was also planning on driving (I think ) rather than using the train ...

Nice Mr Postman! My envelope also arrived this morning, so well chuffed and quite a lot relieved as well!

One question though, do we HAVE to use the rail warrant? I fully appreciate why it has been sent, but for me travelling from Stockport to Knottingley involves two changes and a 3 hour 15 minute journey.

By car its an hour and a half....

Clarky, we are being put up in the Pontefract Premier Inn and we are booked for Sunday through to the following Thursday. Our first week commences 5th January for 7 weeks. Our last week commences Sunday 16th February 2014.

Cheers Jim , that snippet will tide me over until I get the package on Monday !

Re: The rail warrant , I am the same as you I had planned on driving at least for the first week to get my stuff from A to B with the minimum of hassle....also as you have already said the route would be the same for me coming from Chester so much more hassle than driving.

I had a phone call from DBS on tuesday saying they want to progress my application but they require me to do the new tests. So they said to ring back in the new year to say whether i want to take the new tests as it will make my current tests invalid.
