Also is this also telling us that the U1 will now run Newquay to Falmouth via Truro, as it would otherwise be odd to use this number just for college journeys?

A friend of mine spent some time in Newquay today watching the Boardmasters buses coming and going. He said DVSA were at the bus station checking drivers licenses and carrying out vehicle checks. Is this done regularly or just randomly at events etc?

Tinner E400MMC 33467 was at Par moor testing station today.

DVSA do this daily, but rarely venture to Cornwall. Can often be seen on the motorway escorting vehicles into their check point.
They like attending big events.

Thanks, I have never seen them checking buses and drivers anywhere.

I suppose a big event is a magnet for less professional operators who prey on people looking to save a few bucks, makes sense for the DVSA to go where they are most likely to catch anything dodgy.

I wonder what has is going on with Lizard open top 33036? It and the other one have only been out briefly which is a shame as I was hoping to ride on the L1 tomorrow, with the specific aim of photographing a Lizard Open top bus. Looks like I may have to wait a while.

The local officer tends to know which operators to check at random. Target Travel used to live up to their name. Carmel coaches too. Scaffolding lorries are also targeted regularly.

Western Greyhound vehicles down West were frequently visited towards the end of their life by DVSA (or VOSA as they were).

Glastonbury has always been a favourite for checks.

First have published details of Truro College routes with some funky new numbers

100 Penzance | Hayle | Connor Downs
200 Penzance | Trevarrack | Castle Gate | Nancledra | Halsetown | Penbeagle | St Ives | Hayle | Connor Downs
220 St Dennis | Whitemoor | Nanpean | St Stephen | Grampound Road | Probus | Tresillian
270 Victoria | Roche | Carclaze | St Austell
271 Callington | Liskeard | Lothwithiel | St Blazey | St Austell
272 Looe | Pelynt | Lostwithiel | St Blazey | St Austell
273 Fowey | Par | St Blazey | St Austell
274 Mevagissey | St Austell
300 Long Rock | Marazion | Goldsithney | Leedstown | Hayle | Connor Downs
400 Porthtowan | Mount Hawke | Wheal Rose | Scorrier | Blackwater
470 Portreath | Illogan | Redruth | Lanner | Carharrack | St Day | Chacewater
500 St Mawes | St Just in Roseland | Portscatho | Tregony | Probus | Tresillian
660 Brill | Constantine | Mawnan Smith | Mabe Burnthouse | Flushing | Mylor Bridge | Feock
850 Crantock | Holywell Bay | St Newlyn East | Goonhavern | Peranzabuloe | Allet | Shortlanesend
890 Launceston | Five Lanes | Bolventor | Bodmin | Indian Queens | Summercourt | Ladock | Tresillian
900 Padstow | St Merryn | St Columb Major
950 Boscastle | Tintagel | Delabole | Camelford | Wadebridge | St Columb Major
L1 The Lizard | Mullion | Helston | Rame | Ponsanooth | Perranwell | Carnon Downs
L2 Coverack | St Keverne | Helston | Wendron | Stithians | Perranwell | Carnon Downs
T1 Penzance | Hayle | Connor Downs | Camborne | Pool | Redruth | Chacewater
T2 St Ives | Carbis Bay | Hayle Connor Downs | Camborne | Pool | Redruth | Chacewater
U1 / U1A / U1X Falmouth | Penryn | Devoran | Carnon Downs | Playing Place
U1 / U1A Newquay | Goonhavern | Perranporth | St Agnes (U1A)

And a service map

This is intriguing and some interesting choices of numbers.
Some, eg 220, 270, 470, 500, 660, 850, 890, 950 bear direct correlation to existing routes, the 27 is FK, the others TfC, and largley follow them, at least in part, although some (eg 890) extend some way beyond.
Then the 271-274 are derivates of the 270. The 272 to Looe has a nice symmetry with the 72 and 172 already going there!
100 and 200 bear a clear resemblance to T1 and T2
300, 400 and 900 look pretty unconnected
Then the U1 group, this must surely mean that these routes are going to run through to Newquay via the existing 86 and 87.
Years ago the Falmouth routes did run on to Newquay but I think this was via the eastern routes (91 etc) rather than via Perranporth.
So will the L1 just be certain journeys to the college on an otherwise commercial route to the Lizard?
The 660 looks interesting and seems to go to a lot of places.
I assume these will all be public buses?

It is very interesting re: the wider potential if the 86 and 87 change to the U1/U1A with a through service via Truro. I had thought there are rather more blue E400s than potentially required by the 6 buses uses presently for the U1 and U2 (I appreciate this increases with the U3 in term times) - even with the three ‘08 Enviros and 32757 eventually becoming Lizards, that still leaves 12 I think in blue?

Yes, 12. I had assumed that some would go into Lizard livery for the U4, but that's not happening so as you say, I wonder where they'll go.

It will certainly be interesting to see the timetables for all of these. A number are likely to be once a day runs (as present) but the U1 and L1 look more extensive; how they all measure up to the details released just a few months ago will be intriguing.

The Newquay to Falmouth routes were the 89/90 (prev X89/X90?) and I think they did follow the direct route as you say. Seem to recall that they received some of the East Lancs Tridents in 2005 before they were spirited away elsewhere.

These numbers are different than what was proposed in around June time. They had lots of variants like T1A, T1X, T1M etc for runs Penzance way, and 27M, 27F, 27C etc for routes in the St Austell direction

How the L1/L2 to Truro fits in with the L3 to Truro and indeed if they all will be running will be interesting as the routes all differ

It'd be good if the 900 (Truro College - Padstow) actually ran every few hours, as that would provide the link that the Royal Blue X19 was going to do in 2020, but which never happened

I think that plan may have changed slightly now as I was told by Marc Huws on Twitter last night that at this stage it’ll be 5 Geminis and the two non Lizard Lolynes that will be painted so that will still include 32757 & 32761. 37002 & 37008 have already been painted but 37002 I think is yet to receive branding. 37008 looks very smart with it’s branding I must mention.

That was what I was alluding to - the info that was released before (and is still in the public domain) has been replaced by this before introduction and there looks to be a few extensive changes.

The variants though look similar in practice. Instead of the 27C/27F/27L/27M, you have the 271/272/273/274. The T1M, T1S and T2C are the 300,100,200 I think. Howeer, how the Lizard and U lines will work does look a bit different but let's see when the times etc come out

It keeps on changing. On BusTimes it's 36100 LX60DXB or DXH.

Sorry, just seems to be confusing.

Are Kernow doing any of the Boardmasters shuttles?

So since the college timetable came out, I thought let's see how much the Truro College ticket is on the M-Ticket app. How I wish I didn't. (image attached shows Truro College Unlimited ticket, priced at £2750)
