Had this been May 8th rather than August 8th, it could well have been a "relegation six pointer" :p

Wouldn't mind if we still have something to fight for then. Would be chuffed if we survive. :D

Interesting news today... Flackwell Heath have declined promotion to the Southern League Division one South & West, so Winchester City will be taking their place.

Eight million quid, a club legend forward, and a winger with bags of potential for Tyrone Mings. Someone pinch me please.

Only Eddie Howe can pull off such a move with the majority of fans nodding in agreement.

Women's World Cup.....Quarter-Final

Canada 1...England 2

Two goals in a three-minute spell by England early in the first half set the host nation team a problem that they were unable to overcome.

England now proceed to their first-ever Women's World Cup semi-final, where they will face Japan.

I've just watched the highlights. I'm Impressed by how mark Sampson changes his tactics dependent on opposition.
Also his passion in the post match interviews I've never seen from a men's manager (and he's Welsh!). I don't know much about him, but I imagine this World Cup will boost his stature in the game.

I've only watched brief highlights so far but I might have to start taking this seriously:D

The Mother in Law of former Aston Villa and now Leicester City player Marc Albrighton was one of the victims of the Tunisia shooting along with her partner.
3 supporters of Walsall FC were also victims of the same incident
RIP all

Semi Final

England: 1
40' Fara Williams (Penalty)

Japan: 2
32' Aya Miyama (Penalty)
90+2' Laura Bassett (Own goal)

England were knocked out of the Women's World Cup in heartbreaking fashion as Laura Bassett's injury-time own goal ensured reigning champions Japan went through to Sunday's final.

So desperately unlucky, but I have to say, they showed infinitely more passion then the men's team.

Up the Lionnesses!!

Remarkable improvement from where the ladies were less than 12 months ago, when Germany hammered them

Very well done the lionesses. I don't think many expected them to finish in the top three at the beginning of the tournament.

I know there is a little interest here, Hyde's new shirt sponsor has just unveiled themselves on Facebook

https://www.facebook.com/LADbible/p...098633470668/2281929421854235/?type=1&theater

Being honest enough to own up that it is I who am the forum member who watched his favourite non-league side of Hyde and lived through the following in the last five years:-
Promotion from the Conference North to the Conference Premiership
Two seasons in the Conference Premiership
Relegation from the Conference Premiership to the Conference North
Relegation from the Conference North to "Gods knows what"...<(
I must confess that the Hyde FC "clutching at any available straw" department appears to have had either a conversion on the Road to Damascus or are trying to attract some red-blooded male supporters...:D

The final's only been going for eight minutes and the US has already put two behind the Japanese goal. Has the US won it already?
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
A third goal for the US. A US win is almost certain now.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Make that a fourth. Carli Lloyd has a hat-trick after just sixteen minutes.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Japan have one back. Still three left for the Japs to make up.

Japan has just made a second substitution - we're not even in the second half yet!

--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
A own goal by America's Julie Johnston gives Japan a chance.

JAP 2 USA 4

Another US goal soon counteracts Japan's.

JAP 2 USA 5

Lauren Holiday - 13'
Tobin Heath - 54'

Champions League....1st qualifying round

The New Saints 4...B36 Torshavn 1

Mike Wilde scored a hat-trick in the second leg of the fixture, which sees the New Saints through to the 2nd qualifying round on a 6-2 aggregate score.

Not looking good for the Villa.

One is forced to ask why, after signing a four and a half year contract only in this January, why the 25 year old Aston Villa captain Fabian Delph has suddenly considered an option of a move to Manchester City.

Surely, now that the club's Premiership status has been secured for this coming season he could have given a captain's lead example for the coming season at Villa Park

£££ seems the most obvious. I can't see Delph being much more than a bench warmer similar to Milner although European football is a thing - he's never going to get it with us.

Man City have been predatory since their new owners came in. Such is football
