Received the OPC email today asking me to complete online assessments. Email state that all applicants are required to do the online assessments regardless of having already passed the psychometrics.

So no CV to upload at this stage? Felt like I've done it wrong lol
When I applied back in 2018, I too was surprised by this, but it’s actually a better way of doing things (from an applicant’s point of view) as they only get to see your CV at the interview, so everything re the sift and psychometrics up until then is based on passing fairly straightforward online assessments.

Thank you, I got the OPC email yesterday which took away the anxiety, I really thought I missed a step haha

Any know where their classroom training part would be based?
They’ve got training facilities at Ipswich so my hunch would say there.

But since all the trainees will be for Gateway they may do it closer to there to take away the need for lodging, evening meal etc.

Omg I would love this, and I only live 33 minutes away according to google maps, but I don't drive
I failed my Group Bourdon with Southeastern less than a year ago as well, so I guess I wouldn't be eligible anyway

I don’t believe being able to drive is a requirement.

Also you have two lives when it comes to the testing, so you’ve still got another life left.

If that's the case that would be amazing. I'll send an application off either way.
I would've thought the whole reason of asking you to live within 60 minutes of the depot is so you can make it there within 60 minutes, which I wouldn't be able to do, but I'm not going to argue with them if they don't mind

How would you get to and from work at all times of the day and night? I can’t imagine using a taxi will be economically viable, and cycling would surely cause fatigue issues? Do you plan to take your driving test as you’d have time in theory before you started at the depot.

I plan on taking my driving test within the next few months. I guess the rules about getting to the depot only apply once you've passed the trainee stage which takes over a year, I believe. So I should have enough time to get my licence.

Once you have completed the classroom bit approx 10/12 week you will be out with a mentor. You will follow there shift pattern so will need to get to the depot at all different hours.

When you’re doing your driving hours with an Instructor you will be working their shifts so you would need transport to get you to and from your home depot at all hours of the day and night.

Correct. I think it’s a 4 month rules course, then its a couple of weeks leave.

After the classroom and leave, you’ll be at the depot on handling so will need to be self sufficient pretty much by then.
