777041 entered service on Friday on the Ormskirk line, beginning with 5O05. Quite a quick introduction for this unit given its only been up here a short while. 777021 and 777144 are yet to enter service.

somethings telling me it hasn’t completed ffr given it’s been up here for about a month and the ride quality is considerably rougher than the others, still crap mind

It has been doing multiple runs up and down the Southport line each day for a few weeks so no doubt will have completed the legal requirement of fault free running

When did fault free running become a legal requirement? Was there a time when the railway put things into service and hoped for the best?

I wondered that. Imagine picking up your brand new car to find its 3 months old and had done 4000 miles, fault free....

Update - original rescue unit on non compatible software version.
I guess it was the Polish/Swiss issue again? I presume that the units that are currertly working in multiple on the Ormskirk line are the only ones that have received the software updates to make them compatible with each other.

The latest 777 update seems to have allowed the destination station to be changed from the main ones. The Southport line ones are correctly showing Hillside this morning which is good

Don't know if this is unusual but I've just passed 777 148 at Birkenhead Park. It was ecs heading towards Liverpool but stopped in the station as if in service so presume is on driver training

Duty appeared to be 5T64 West Kirby to Kirkdale

Are these units effectively stuck there at the moment due to the works, or can they be moved as long as it isn't towards Southport?

Yes all units at Southport cannot be moved until the Network rail possession is lifted. So presumably Saturday morning at the earliest

Just had first journey on 8 car 777 on Ormskirk line, should have been 18.59 Orrell Park to Ormskirk. Didn’t arrive to around 19.20 due to a welfare incident at Kirkdale. 049 was the lead but didn’t manage to identify the rear 4 coach unit.

8 Car 777 ECS runs this morning on the Ormskirk line in preparation for working services during the Grand National this coming week.

Will be interesting to see which services will be worked by the 8 Car 777s, will these just be confined to the Aintree to Liverpool Central additional services.

6 Car 507s are also likely to feature on the Ormskirk line during the 3 day festival, with 3 Ormskirk diagrams orginating from Southport Wall sidings, New Brighton siding No. 2 and Birkenhead North depot - a very rare occurrence for Ormskirk diagrams not to start from Kirkdale depot. These three diagrams I presume must be formed of 6 car 507 units.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe there is a 'legal requirement' however, there is a contractual requirement which would have a legal ramification if not undertaken.

I forgot about 777039, which unless I've missed an earlier date, entered passenger service on Saturday 6th April starting with 5S79/2S79 to Southport.

As in theory there are only 3 diagrams for 507s how many 507s are still left on Merseyside and ' taking up space' so that the 777s currently at LM cannot come up?

I suspect from next week on withdrawals might pick up pace/ go back to the speed of earlier in the year as a result of the National being over

Is it safe to assume reliability has improved substantially on the 777s, or have people just stopped bothering to report problems?
Today was the first time in about 4 weeks I've been kicked off because of a 'train fault'.
I do hunts cross to Fazakerley to get to work and can definitely see them getting more reliable.
