Are you saying that each unit has a specific separate end date? Have those dates been calculated on the supposed delivery dates of the 777s? Seems rather risky. Also, it would be better if possible if any unit, rather than a specific unit, went off lease on a given date. That way you send one with a serious fault to the scrapyard rather than one in full working order.
Leases can be extended, of course. It's not like the ROSCO has a further lease lined up, and they'd be unlikely to turn down a bit of extra revenue from a lease extension for a unit that is going for scrap. What may be a factor is if any heavier exams are due and Merseyrail aren't prepared to pay for them.

507003 just passed Ham Square at 1820 Ecs to presumably Birkenhead North.

507007,010,017 are today's New Brighton units plus a 777
Most likely 507003 was working the following;

There was another ECS move from New Brighton later in the evening to West Kirby platform 1;

Perhaps its working on the West Kirby line tomorrow (Sunday).

Some on here were adamant the 508 leases expired on 31st December last year and would not, under any circumstances, be extended. Clearly they were extended if this date is correct.

And so the final class 508 (508104) along with 507004 have departed tonight for Crewe South Yard behind 37884. Running approx 10mins late. A significant date after all those years of 508s serving Merseyside.

Not the best video, but here's my video of it passing Heswall at 0007 on the 23/01.

(YouTube link to a video of 37884 dragging 507004 and 508104 through Heswall)

507033 on the 1145 departure from Chester for those interested.

Edit - 507010, 023, 032 noted on Birkenhead North depot as of 1300, at least 1 other visible through the shed windows but doors closed so unable to identify.

507028 507029 were on New Brightons
507030+507011 were 1406 off Hunts X then they split at Southport 1712 off Southport I think were 507017+507021 and 507001 1651 HX to Southport (absolutely rammed at Moorfields as no 6 cars) and return 1812.

Can anybody confirm the times off Southport/Hunts X for the 777s please so I can avoid them.

In addition to previous reports today, 507 014 was also working the Chester Line with 033.
507 007 was on the West Kirby and 507 013 was also on the New Brighton circuit.
507 016 was seen at Sandhills about 14:45 on an ECS working from Kirkdale to Birkenhead North. 507 002 was stabled at New Brighton and 507 003 and 507 018 were also seen on the Southport line.

I saw 19 out of the 21 survivors today only 507 020 and 507 031 eluding me.

Nightmare at Southport multiple points failures and Birkdale Level Crossing Gates blocking road traffic around 1500/1600. 507003+023 stuck in the platform.
4 pairs out 507001+007 507003+023 507021+023 507014+033. Turning back at Hillside

Unfortunately, I was caught in the disruption at Southport this afternoon and it descended into a total shambles once again. The guard on 003+023 was excellent, keeping us informed of the situation with very regular announcements as the units waiting under the Eastbank Street bridge with broken points ahead, before a wrong-side run back to Birkdale. He couldn't apologise enough for the disruption, in fairness.

However, this was in stark contrast to the officious, extremely rude station staff at Birkdale whose attitude managed to draw the ire of just about everyone waiting. No audible announcements were provided by him in over an hour despite there being no clear information on what Liverpool-bound passengers were supposed to do. An announcement from Sandhills control confirmed replacement buses were ordered, yet this chap was adamant there would be no buses. He then dismissively suggested we stop 'waiting around' at Birkdale and make our own way on foot - in absolutely apocalyptic rain - to Hillside, a 25-minute walk! This, unfortunately, summarises the overall decline of Merseyrail in recent years. Every time something goes wrong nowadays, utter chaos seems to ensue.

Anyway, rant over. 507016 was the other unit on the New Brighton line, whilst 507002, 020 and 032 are in the sidings at New Brighton this evening. It definitely looks ominous for 002 and 032, sadly. 029 was out on the West Kirby line as mentioned above and in excellent form too, so many thanks to Dave for the updates.

Is this the plan for 507s operating on the Southport - Hunts Cross line now to run as 6 cars from start to end of service?
I haven't been able to keep up with recent changes since more 777s were introduced on this line earlier this week.

CallmeDave do you have another detailed listing of todays 507 workings please (obvious caveats applied).
Thanks in advance.

Any ideas on what 507s are currently out and about and not in for repairs?

West Kirby

Southport departures

029 015 1012

003 017 1612 1842
015 029 1557 1827

Southports often tend to get changed from 1500. There are 4 x 777 diagrams in a row that account for the gaps

Hope this helps.
