Two easements were added to the routeing guide yesterday.
This easement allows some LNER advance tickets to be used on rail replacement buses between Grantham and Corby. The easement is needed (if they want to sell advance tickets) because one of the unpublished restrictions for the 00430 route code would otherwise prevent those tickets from being offered via Wellingborough.
Two more easements were added this afternoon.

This is probably most important for Crosshill-Motherwell. For the other stations on the list, you can plan a ticket with the route Crosshill-Mount Florida-Crosshill-Glasgow Central-wherever. Mount Florida-Motherwell doesn't have a valid route via Glasgow Central, so there wouldn't have been one from Crosshill without this easement.701150 (Fare route) Due to engineering works on 25 and 26 November and the 27 December 2023. Customers travelling on tickets priced on 00051 VIA SHENFIELD may travel on rail replacement services from Billericay. This fare route easement applies in both directions.
The line between Wickford and Shenfield is closed then, and buses are running between Wickford and Shenfield. For some context, this was implemented alongside a removal of a 24-hour block on PU/PV restricted tickets being used on services that terminate at Euston in order to allow tickets routed "via High Wycombe" and "via Banbury" to be offered for some journeys via Chiltern to stations between Coventry and Birmingham New Street between Mon and Fri where they weren't before.
Interesting that the change was only applied to 00305 and not to 00267 as well.

I don't understand the context. Why was there only a 24-hour block on PU/PV restricted tickets?
It was to prevent other temporary easements allowing travel with High Wycombe/Banbury tickets on Avanti to/from London.
There was a thread on here a while back where a temporary easement was added which inadvertently made these routed tickets valid on Avanti to/from Euston.
This 24-hour block (not valid to depart/arrive at Euston at any time) in the electronic data was a backup to prevent such a situation happening again.

00267 had Milton Keynes added as a barred location back in August when it was spotted that some journey planners were offering tickets routed via Banbury on Avanti services from Euston due to an easement that CrossCountry had put in place for Engineering Work on the Cherwell Valley route.

As stated above:
Back then, yes there were a number of people who managed to grab tickets with these itineraries. I don't quite remember what happened to passengers who used them.
It wasn't really a hidden error that was just for people on RF — Trainline was just issuing them left, right and centre as they were cheapest ticket "valid" for the journey.

Most of the "local" destinations have some tickets from East Linton which use one of the routes in the easement, and a lot of longer distance journeys are valid via Edinburgh and Berwick anyway because of the fare check. Someone with a flexible East Linton-Billingham ticket would not benefit.

Some more changes were published in the routeing guide on Wednesday. There had been an update on 19th December, but nothing actually changed then.
These only meet in London Group. LONDON was already a valid map combination for Bedford-Wokingham, and WX a valid London-Wokingham map. MI was a valid Bedford-London map, and MI and MM are identical south of Kettering. Unless there's some easement which treats the maps differently, this change does nothing.
This easement seems to permit something which was allowed by the way web sites accommodate rail replacement buses. Perhaps it helps to be explicit.
The data for this easement adds Brighton group, Littlehampton (but not Ford), Horsham and Three Bridges to mapped routes which could benefit from them, meaning that (say) a London-Lewes ticket is valid on the diverted trains.
This change means that only the (often slower) direct trains are valid with paper tickets.
This easement means that (say) a Stoke Mandeville-London journey is still treated as going via Chalfont & Latimer, even if the web site cannot detect that the Underground service goes there.

At least that's only missing the "F" for the fares route.
If it is faster to travel via Finsbury Park then there really should be 'via Finsbury Park' fares in addition to 'Any Permitted', This is certainly the case for many other flows on the GN network.

The "correct" way to do this would really be to have a fake pass point at Gatwick on the rail replacement bus services, but hey ho.
It's certainly not plain what is and isn't "allowed" in any part of changes to permitted routes, in much the same way as fares "regulation" more widely. In England, at least, the Department is regulating and being regulated by the same people.
I hate to sound cliché, but when one's marking one's own homework, I suppose there's not an enormous incentive to be consistent (and maybe not even to use a spellchecker).
Replacement bus schedules can be booked to pass, or call unadvertised, at stations in the ordinary way a train would do, as it happens. Some TOCs schedule them like that sometimes. Presumably that requires a bit more time and care when doing the alterations, of course.

You can get trains from Finsbury Park which are non-stop to Stevenage, which can make for a far quicker journey than catching a Moorgate stopper north from Harringay.
Something I've noticed is that itineraries via Finsbury Park no longer appear on nre.co.uk if you request something like Harringay-Stevenage or Harringay-Welwyn Garden City unless you specify "via Finsbury Park" in the request. A couple of the other web sites I tried also have a blind spot here. For comparison, the TfL planner does show the fastest route with its default settings.

There are no trains between Charlbury and Worcester Shrub Hill on the above dates, and there are a number of easements for it, and a number of sets of route codes they affect.This easement permits travel via Birmingham for people with flexible tickets with "Evesham" in the route code, so long as they go somewhere near London (High Wycombe for journeys via Birmingham Moor Street or Watford Junction for ones via Birmingham New Street). If the route code doesn't include "Stroud", they are also permitted to travel via Bristol Parkway and Swindon.
The easement data doesn't mention Hereford et al, so someone travelling from Bromsgrove or Droitwich may also benefit.

This is a local easement for journeys to and from one of the above stations, which covers flexible tickets where the route code mentions "Evesham" but not "Stroud", as well as "any permitted" and (in the data) (01000). It means that (for example) a flexible Worcestershire Parkway-Appleford ticket can be used via Bristol Parkway. The data for this easement is a bit different from the text. It adds locations to any "mapped" routes used with flexible Evesham (but not Stroud) route codes where the journey does not go via Oxford. I could only see an amended timetable for the 18th when I looked. The Ebbw Vale line is closed then, and none of the buses go to Newport. Looking on nre.co.uk, I could see this diversion for a London-Trowbridge "via Newbury" ticket but not for Theale-Trowbridge.701172 (Fare route) On Sundays 31 March and 07 April 2024 when the line between Westbury and Castle Cary is closed. This easement lets "not via Reading" tickets be used for journeys via Reading for tickets from and to stations between Theale and Pewsey. This map easement will allow journey planners to show itineraries using rail replacement services from Milton Keynes and onward train journeys from Bedford to London St Pancras International. There are no trains between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes over the Easter weekend. This adds London St Pancras, West Hampstead Thameslink, Bedford and Milton Keynes to any mapped route which can make use of them.701175 (Fare route) During engineering closures south of Milton Keynes from 29 March 2024 to 01 April 2024. This fare route easement will allow tickets priced on (00403) AP CARLISLE and (00452) AWC & CONNECTIONS to be valid on services via Bedford. It will apply in both directions.
This allows someone to use an "AWC & Connections" ticket via Bedford on the above dates. This is needed because the route code is actually defined as excluding routes via Bedford (as well as Banbury, Barrow, Huddersfield and Peterborough). The "AP Carlisle" route code is, as far as I know, unused.701176 (Fare route) During engineering closures south of Milton Keynes from 29 March 2024 to 01 April 2024 This fare route easement will permit tickets priced on (00043) AVANTI TRAINS ONLY, (00060) AVANTI & TPE ONLY, (00117) AVANTI & NTH ONLY, to use replacement services to Bedford and onward by East Midlands and Thameslink trains. It will apply in both directions.
This allows tickets with some of the Avanti-specific route codes to be used on EMR and Thameslink trains. Others (such as the one used by first class Avanti-only London-Glasgow tckets) are unaffected.701177 (Map) On 17 and 18 February, when trains from and beyond Clapham Junction to and via Guildford are routed via Virginia Water, this map easement will create temporary permissions via Barnes and Virginia Water. It will operate in both directions.
SWR aren't going through Wimbledon on that weekend, and there are diverted trains which are non-stop between Clapham Junction and Woking. This easement adds stations to some mapped routes (specifically those which don't go through Ascot or Slough) to permit their use. This fixes a typo. It also changes one of the conditions. Instead of journeys from or to Evesham, Pershore and Worcestershire Parkway via Swindon being allowed via Cheltenham, they are now allowed via Evesham, Pershore and Worcestershire Parkway. I don't know what effect this has.Route changes:
