Sorry, not correct.
Was this D66xx which followed on from D67/68/69xx ?
Exactly correct. The original series ran from D6700 up, but the extra order for South Wales took them past D6999, so they went down to D6600-6608 for the last locos. Class 37 under TOPS.

The Class 47 would have also been the same, with D1100-1111 following D1500-1999, had it hot been for D1961 (and possibly D1960) not being delivered until later.

You can set the next question.

Thank-you.

Swindon built a class of pannier tank after nationalisation. In the late 50's two of these locos were to be found far from home.

a) what were the numbers of these engines.

b) which shed did they operate from.

c) what was the purpose of their transfer.

1646 and 1649.

Dornoch, subshed to Helmsdale, but also Dingwall for a while.

They went north to work the The Mound-Dornoch branch.

Could I suggest alternatively: seven -- three on the Rheidol, two Corris, two Welshpool & Llanfair?

Edit -- second thoughts -- are we thinking just the "public" domain; or, also internal n/g systems in loco works -- Crewe, Horwich? I don't know details concerning those scenes.

That is why I used the term ‘operating stock’. Wren and a diesel were still at Horwich, but Crewe’s system had closed in 1935. The diesel at Horwich had been bought for Crewe in 1930 and moved on closure.

Which European island is since 1927 accessible by (standard gauge) train but not by road? Clue: it used to have a fairly extensive narrow gauge system?

Thanks very much. IC trains are still diesel-hauled all the way from Hamburg to Westerland/Sylt, if anyone likes that sort of thing. Riding the train across the water the Hindenburgdamm to Sylt is good, endless beach or endless water on either side.

Not so far from Sylt there is a railway construction that resembles a lying-down Eiffel Tower. What does it cross? What other ways may one cross? How much does crossing cost?

The construction: the rail bridge across the Kiel Canal at Rendsburg ?? Other ways -- something road-vehicle-oriented; a toll bridge? a ferry? both? No idea about the cost.

The main answer is right, the railway line describes a spiral to gain height, occasional walking tours up the bridge are available. The ferries are very very 'affordable', any other tries?

There is a foot and vehicle transporter bridge suspended below the Rendsburg rail bridge.
Correct, like the one at Newport. There are other ways to cross too (and two other railway bridges), how else may one change sides? Charges for a freight ship along the canal can be €6000 plus locking fees. Simply crossing the canal is much much much cheaper, how little does it cost?

@Gloster got two, so may set the next question

There is a road tunnel at Rendsburg and a tunnel for walkers. There are many ferries across the Kiel Canal/Nordsee-Ostsee Kanal, no charge!

In July 1969 an accident resulted in four members of the same class of loco being withdrawn. Where did it happen and, as a bonus, what class?

As nobody seems to be biting on this one here is a clue. In May 1972 another accident within a few yards of the first led to the withdrawal of another member of the class of loco and five DMU vehicles.
