Does anybody else have an issue recently booking tickets using Uber in that you go through the payment which triggers a payment check with the bank (As in you have to open the bank app to 'approve' the payment)...then after all that it seems to loop and go through the process again?

After the second time all goes through fine, has happened on every single Uber train ticket purchase for a few months now for me
Yeah same here

Does anyone know whether you can access the Reach coupons using an online version of a paper and print them out? I've found an online version of a paper, which would be easier so that I don't have to try and search for a paper.

If not, does anyone know anywhere good in Leeds city centre where you can pick up one of the listed papers?

I think one of motivations of the offer is to sell newspapers, so I don't think they'd be offering coupons for free online

Any newsagents in Leeds will sell the Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Evening Post.

I have two accounts. Hope someone enjoys the promo codes:
  • KWSGXGVPZ
  • 2PH6GS83W
Do reply if you use either to save others from needlessly trying to use them.

Has anyone successfully used the LNER-Amex 10% cashback offer on an annual Season ticket? I don't see anything specifically excluding it in the T&Cs.

I've been using it for the individual tickets, and even bought £500 of vouchers and got the cashback all fine, but obviously a bit more concerned if it doesn't properly work on a £5600 RDG-PAD Annual Season.
Because of my weird shift patterns only about 40% of my journeys are peak, so it is borderline worthwhile vs a combination PAYG contactless/Off Peak Travelcards/Weekly Seasons, and cashback tips it in favor (alongside the greater flexibility) and may jump on it before the price rises.

A decent newsagent might be able to specially order a copy of the bigger titles, like the Yorkshire Post or the MEN.
I tried this. I guess the newsagent near my office (on Fleet Street of all places) isn't a decent one, because they didn't produce the goods!
In previous years I recall the tokens look the same in Reach and National World titles. It was ploy to get people to buy more National World titles.
I'm glad you told me this because, on arrival in York, the only participating paper in WH Smith was the Saturday edition of the Yorkshire Post and those are £3.50 a pop (and quite heavy). Luckily two of them were sufficient!

Glad it was useful. It’s a fantastic promotion.

The rail industry really should think hard about creative ways like this get more use their off peak trains.

Thanks for posting this, they ran a similar offer in December and the codes were snapped up instantly at 10am. I managed to get one today at 5pm ish so still available if anyone needs one.

Thanks again, Rich.

Thameslink and Great Northern have just started to sell advance ticket exclusively for weekend, available for most main flow including but not limited to London Thameslink to Cambridge/Peterborough/Bedford/Brighton/Luton

Sounds like a precursor to getting rid of super off peak weekend tickets as Oval rolls out (we’ve already seen the price go up)

Also a squeeze on the Network Railcard as no discount is available on Advances.

Cross London advances are still available on weekdays, for example St Albans to Gatwick.

£5.80 singles for St Albans to St Pancras seems like a rip off with the weekend super off peak return less than £1 more than two singles at £12.30, unless you're not returning the same day.

I really hope not but unfortunately I think you might be right. That return I mentioned above would be £20 at current contactless / off peak day return prices.

Advance tickets where there is effectively a turn up and go service is not a good idea.

I suspect many people will end up travelling on the wrong train, especially on the return after a day out in London.

I agree with others that this is likely part of the plan to get rid of the weekend only super off-peak tickets.

Showing my ignorance and indicating how little I travel by train but :-
What is a super off peak return ?.
Is it meant to be cheaper so restrictive or is it meant to be more flexible so more expensive ?.
To me a "cheap day return" made sense in the past.
Super - is that more expensive or cheaper then non-super ?.

I suppose it is why I go by coach, easier to book and far cheaper !.

I am interested because I can see the railways are obviously trying to be clever with pricing.

On GTR it’s a cheap fare available on any train at the weekend.

Around 30% cheaper than the normal off-peak price.

My bold. So true. And it results in punishment.

I still remember my missus refusing to get on a Southern Service from Victoria to East Croydon because it was Gatwick Express red. But it seemed to be announced as a genuine Southern Service. So incorrect use is amplified by the branding inconsistencies - or should I call it branding confusion !. For example someone with a gatwick express ticket could easily end up on a Southern service (with wrong stock) - is that a fine ?. To be fair I think the biggest "wrong ticket" risk is Thameslink vs Southern. For me with my over 60s Oyster (so free travel in London) this is the main area of rail usage I see.

I am making use of my AMEX offer for 10% off purchases with LNER. Does not seem to be a limit on the amount I can purchase and I am assuming I can also buy a voucher to the maximum value of £500 before the offer finishes so will make use of this as well a few days before the offer expires.

So it's good news that Interrail Global Passes are going on sale when booked through National Rail.

From 6am tomorrow, Tuesday 11 March, Interrail by National Rail will be offering 15 per cent off Interrail Global Passes and many One Country Passes (excluding Switzerland). The offer ends at midnight on 1 April (don't worry, it's not an April Fool).

Global Passes are flexible – you can purchase passes that allow between four days of travel in one month and continuous travel for one, two or three months.

A One Country Pass offers travel on the railways of 30 different countries for up to eight days within one month.

Sale prices start at £205 for an adult Global Pass, and all purchased passes must be activated up to 11 months from the date of purchase.
The source is an i paper email; I haven't seen any website information yet.

Planning to use it tomorrow.
Any easy way I can get the 3rd token?
