Would Chiltern drivers be instructed to treat a blue aspect as Danger?New signal posts show red or blue to CBTC fitted trains and red or green to non-communicating others.
Chiltern or other non-CBTC fitted train wouldn’t see a blue aspect, as they couldn’t communicate with the CBTC system.Would Chiltern drivers be instructed to treat a blue aspect as Danger?
Fulham Broadway.I assume that is because the signalling hasn't been upgraded pastWest Bromptonyet so the displays only have limited data to display.
Fulham Broadway.
should be partially resolved when CBTC is extended to East Putney, with enabling work already happening on that section.
19 March is Becontree-Upminster (not including Upminster depot). Is this section south of Fulham Broadway the one one that should be going live in March?
Were they equipment only cabins or were actually manned?Barking and Upminster signal cabins close after the last trains tonight with progress of CBTC SMA 7.
staffed, yes. Were they equipment only cabins or were actually manned?
Oh not sure i realised that. Are the rest all going when CBTC gets there or have any been descoped?staffed, yes.
leaving only Rayners Lane, Harrow-on-the-Hill, Rickmansworth and Amersham as staffed LU signal cabins.
Is this just a simple systems change or is there any improvements such as speeds / capacity?Barking and Upminster signal cabins close after the last trains tonight with progress of CBTC SMA 7.

Acceleration uncapped in ATO mode 0 to 45mph in 33 seconds vs 48 seconds previously. Is this just a simple systems change or is there any improvements such as speeds / capacity?
I have now recorded a few runs under full ATO. Westbound Upminster to West Ham the total sum of fastest recorded ATO times recorded is 20min 06 seconds compared with 22mins 27 seconds for the fastest recorded manually driven times. That is a potential time saving of almost 2.5 minutes. All down to faster acceleration and higher top speeds on most sections. ATO braking rates are slower than achieved by many drivers so the time improvements due to the faster acceleration and top speed include a small amount of time lost under braking. The real difference is when you average out the manually driven times over a number of runs and compare them to average ATO times. Then the difference is really noticeable. Average manual driving times are almost 23 minutes over the same section. Is this just a simple systems change or is there any improvements such as speeds / capacity?
Just to be clear...as far as I can tell from the Programmes and Investment Committee papers (that Snow1964 was referring to) this is seeking procurement authority to increase the value of the ATC contract which is part of the Four Lines Modernisation project and was originally let to Thales in July 2015.There is als request to permit an unbudgeted Automatic Train Control system
What was Ealing Radio Island, sorry? I read the report but couldn't see a descriptionThere is update on pages 16 and 17 of latest TfL Board Committee reports
Seems Ealing radio island is descoped
End date is now expected to be 2 quarters (6 months late)
It would’ve allowed District trains to test CBTC was communicating within Ealing Common depot before entering out onto the running line and failing to migrate at Stamford Brook boundary. What was Ealing Radio Island, sorry? I read the report but couldn't see a description
Thank you. So what's likely to happen if this radio island isn't happening? Will we see an increased risk of problems when trains reach this boundary? Or is the island not happening because the risk is low enough to be deemed acceptable? It would’ve allowed District trains to test CBTC was communicating within Ealing Common depot before entering out onto the running line and failing to mitigate at Stamford Brook boundary.
There is an increased risk although since commissioning there have been few problems at Barons Court boundary.Thank you. So what's likely to happen if this radio island isn't happening?
