It may aso be worth noting, that the TfGM website appears to be showing PDF timetables for all routes again.

Not all - at the very least the 101, 102 and 103 are missing
Ah, apologies. You are correct, some do appear to be missing. Using a random selection of about 50 routes throughout the county reveal a good number (of not most) seem to be up there, though.

The routes which seem to be online are those which didn't change from Pre Covid or haven't changed much. Services which changed in September are those which don't seem to be showing up.

Diamond Bus are starting 20/21/22(2) from Bolton to Trafford Centre. Is the current 68 being withdrawn? Diamond Bus publicity isn't very clear. Thanks.

Yes 68 is now number 20

With new route Little Hulton via Salford Road, Logistics North, St Helens Road, Hulton Lane and Deane Road to Bolton providing improved links to the Logistics North employment area. This change is funded from Better Deal for Bus Users funding.

Also, TfGM are planning several changes to services around the Salford area from late October, including the withdrawal of the service 73 and service 70 being re-routed to run between Pendleton and Eccles. The 21 will cover the Clifton Junction-Swinton/Eccles link lost from these services

Depending on how you understand it, either the 68 is renumbered and rerouted. or the 68 is being withdrawn and replaced by the 20. Both ways come to the same conclusion, perhaps it's just how it has been explained.

This new map which Diamond have put on their website

Another batch of service changes were put to the TFGM Combined Authority on October 9th. Not sure on the outcome of these, but some interesting changes to the subsidised network. Full report at: https://democracy.greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk/documents/b10567/GMTC 09.10.20 Supplemental Agenda 09th-Oct-2020 10.30 Greater Manchester Transport Committee.pdf?T=9

Very disappointing with how short the notice is for this. Both for operators and councillors. I think the councillor during the meeting made it quite clear that such short notice changes like the above are unacceptable to the committee.

Operators will be in the loop as they put in the tender for it so know what they are pricing before putting in tender. and councillors are never going to be happy when they lose a bus.

Operators found out in the last 2 weeks about some of those changes. The TFGM officer announced in the meeting that they were late changes, because they had taken advantage of other changes which wouldn't have any financial differences.

So 6 weeks is ample time got to remember TFGM is the customer. If Operators don't want to do the job there be others who will And itWorks. both ways as they can pick up work or lose it but there always a replacement if they ask as there always work. Also some firms will hold out for a route to be tendered but would run the route anyway.

I have a suggestion that the 600-699 series be reallocated to schools and the few remaining routes be renumbered into a Wigan series or 500-599 range.

602/shortened 607 become 142 and 158 in the Merseytravel series as these are "boundary" routes.

613 to become Wigan 13
630 to become Wigan 12
634 to become Wigan 14
635 to become Wigan 15
639 to become Wigan 16
640/641 to become Wigan 11C/11A (clockwise/anti clock)
695 to become 599

Many renumbering have taken place and this would complete the task begun when Stagecoach renumbered their Wigan routes .Again this is just an idea not proposals by TfGM.

Apologies 640/641 suggestion 11A/11C but you get the idea.

In the last 2 weeks plus 2 weeks until the change makes 4 weeks maximum.

I think we will all agree that for emergency changes, this would be find but in general, it isn't emergency changes and the work should have been done with the previous set of changes to tenders being announced in September since that gives time to publicise the changes, do timetables and so on. It gives some operators chance to sort duties as well (Bearing in mind, some of these companies are small and don't have dedicated teams sat there to deal with this stuff, it's a bit harsh giving them so little time.

Good call to review service numbers but I think you need to be careful not to duplicate route numbers as that can confuse people as well. 11, 12 & 15 are already taken. Also, for the 6410/641, you would have to use separate numbers since that is what Stagecoach do on their circulars (1 & 2, 5 & 6).

Why?

I'm not totally against renumbering, but ideally there should be some positive to offset the confusion renumbering causes. Was there some gain after Stagecoach renumbered?

11, 12 and 15 are not used in Wigan however. Most Stagecoach Wigan numbers are duplicated in the TfGM area. Route 8 is not far from the long standing 8 (Bolton-Manchester) service.
I do have other ideas but I will just stick to Wigan.

The routes I suggest renumbering are not all operated by Stagecoach, most are tenders. I have read that 695 may be replaced by other routes. 638 is being withdrawn but a 639 is being introduced.

BTW slightly off topic as of 14th October passengers from Haydock can drink in an Ashton-in-Makerfield pub. However if GM goes to Tier 3 COVID status this could change.

I need to ask for some assistance here, and so do some Gtr Manchester passengers! Among the changes due to happen on the 25th Oct is a new route 129, which is due to replace 695. The only 129 on the website is the Middleton local, but this doesn't serve Bolton or Leigh and is unlikely to be an extension of the Middleton bus.Can anyone shed any light on this route , who the operator will be and roughly the period of operation? I'd be grateful to know, thanks in advance .

I think the TfGM paper timetables are now back in full production once more and should now be in all TfGM travelshops.

Did the 529 appear in the end?

I actually have the new TfGM timetable for the 129 new service, dated 25th October 2020. The operator is Vision Bus. It runs between Farnworth, Little Hulton, Walkden, Boothstown, Tyldesley Gin Pit and Higher Green, partly replacing services 551, 553 and 695. Frequency is said to be hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes and every two hours Monday to Saturday evenings, Sundays and Bank Holidays.

I was speaking to a TfGM personage today in Stockport bus station who said from Monday, 30th November, preliminary works are scheduled to transform the adjacent Heaton Lane car park into a temporary bus station that will be used once works commence to provide the new-style Stockport bus station with twenty bus stances. There will be an urban park situated atop the new bus station. Work is due to commence early 2021.

Another, not really surprising, forthcoming change by Stagecoach is the withdrawal of the 102 service to Southern Cemetery, which is well covered already by other services such as the 101 and the 103.

Information shown on "bus update section" of TfGM website.

Apologies, I thought I had typed it in with the rest of the posting, but feel free to delete the posting about those two bus services if you feel there is a doubt about the veracity of the information.
From what Rosso state on their website, it's minor changes to a few journeys as part of the changes to the Rossendale local network:
"There are small minor changes of times on Irwell Line on the 483 at Burnley early in the morning and later afternoon. The 5.27pm 481 to Blackburn will now run at 5.12pm"
