They shouldn't unless the 196s have already run up 500,000 miles which is the typical overhaul mileage of 158s\Turbos. The latest modern railways says that the unit mileage of the fleet is around 112,000.They shouldn't unless the 196s have already run up 500,000 miles which is the typical overhaul mileage of 158s\Turbos. I understand the Southern 171s engines rafts are overhauled almost every five years.
