I’m not sure what to make of the purple livery.
And so obvious that it would!I think it’s a shame to go to all that effort only for it to clash horrendously with the Virgin red
Is that why the power car features white towards the rear? And so obvious that it would!
It should have been a white stripe and then red, separating the white and purple neatly. As it is, it’s just white which is wrong because the Mark 3 carriage starts with red. It sounds pernickerty when I say it but it looks odd.Is that why the power car features white towards the rear?
No. The white is there so the livery matches up with that of the 222s and 156s which are also in EMR temporary brandingIs that why the power car features white towards the rear?
Ah okay, I got a little confused because the amount of purple/white on the 156/9 and 222 units looks inconsistent.No. The white is there so the livery matches up with that of the 222s and 156s which are also in EMR temporary branding
If a Mk3 set was ever done these would of just been white similar to the center coaches on the 222/180's hence the white area towards the rear. There was a picture shown on an EMR video sometime last year with a purple powercar and mk3.Is that why the power car features white towards the rear?
Probably due to the length of the units.Ah okay, I got a little confused because the amount of purple/white on the 156/9 and 222 units looks inconsistent.
Maybe so, it looks so unbalanced having so much purple compared to the rest.If a Mk3 set was ever done these would of just been white similar to the center coaches on the 222/180's hence the white area towards the rear. There was a picture shown on an EMR video sometime last year with a purple powercar and mk3.
Probably due to the length of the units.
On the Regional units, the purple sweeps up across the second passenger window (except on the 156 toilet side). On Intercity units it sweeps up at the pillar between the third and fourth windows. I'm not sure why it's longer, perhaps due to unit lengths as @43055 suggests.Ah okay, I got a little confused because the amount of purple/white on the 156/9 and 222 units looks inconsistent.
pleased to see that 43274 was out yesterday with 43102 on the diagram including 1534 from STP and 1745 return from NottinghamLooks like the aubergine power car (274) is nearly done and will be out and about for the final few weeks of EMR HST operations:
very nice to see those pics - thanks
Nice photos, looks great in this lighting.
If only each carriage in the set had been done in different midland main line used liveries from over the years! I'm sure there must by 6

Is the purple that dark up close?Just got off the train from Manchester and I saw the purple, but had a nice surprise with the Intercity on the rear too!

No worries, can’t wait to see it for real.Perhaps a little lighter, the photo was very rushed as I'd only been on the platform for two seconds.
Not today due to engineering work - back next week.still no saturday diagrams?
It would probably look more seemless if the Red and White were inversed.Although the White does match with the White door at the end of the Red Mk3, Just a shame the white door is really dirty
anyone got a rough idea as to what they are, going off of previous weeks? ta muchlystill no saturday diagrams?
see recent posts on here in answer to my similar question eg post #75 with times (link image here shows a different post at head of page but relevant info lower down)anyone got a rough idea as to what they are, going off of previous weeks? ta muchly
