Has 43140 (Stonehaven one) actually been scrapped, and if so where? Last mention I saw was that it and the coaches were being stored until the enquiry was complete - that may not have been correct, of course.
I think in any normal view of the world it scrapped itself at Carmont during the crash! The other 3 power cars still looked like a power car after their crash, 43140 certainly did not.
We are only talking of scrapping the pieces that remain, not a locomotive or power car.

If you can find a photo of 43011 looking like a power car after Ladbroke Grove, I would like to see it.

Are there any outstanding 'celebrity' power cars still awaiting preservation?

I suspect a lot will end up as parts donors for remaining Scotrail/GWR/CrossCountry/Network Rail/LSL fleets? In theory, there would be enough spares to keep them in good mechanical order for quite some time!

Depends what you mean by celebrity! The two painted in the original livery by LNER are still stored, but a nice paint job isn't really justification to preserve them. The GW one in swallow livery is a parts donor for Scotrail and in the last photos I saw of it was looking very sorry for itself.

The two record speed holders are both now preserved. The first-built is preserved. The last-built is still in use (with GWR).

43300 is the NL parts donor but will probably be near to the end of its life as NL no longer services HSTs, 43313 is for XC spares at LA, 43195 was GWR spares at LA but I don't think there are any spares left on it for love nor money, and those moved from LM to LA will be spares, right?
I don't know what's happening with 030, whether it's going back to service or whether it will be SR spares.

Painted they may be, but they were in poor condition before the farewell tour (they were chosen as they had no planned future after the tour and painting them before sending them off to another TOC wouldn't be particularly helpful). There's not really much going for them either - a bit of a 185 catch 22 (though to me, 185 is more deserving being the first in Merlin! - Yes, I know it's paint froth before anyone chips in!)

43313 is possibly the next one up for the bin, it seems to be losing a considerable number of parts by the week it seems - it's engine, cooler group and cabs are now removed from it. I'm surprised 195 hasn't left Laira yet.

Always thought that 43172 was rather striking when it carried the poppy vinyls. I suppose its been repainted into green now.

It's somewhat surprising that none of the trailers in the blue and grey set have been scrapped yet.

43300 must be a contender as well, given that Neville Hill will now have no use for it.

At least one is being looked at with a view for preservation (the original prototype vehicle), The others are in varying states and I'm sure will either find their way to Newport or into Pres at some point.

What would a preserved railway do with 43s?!
Attach them to Mk3 coaches presumably.

If you are referring to the electrics being different, if I recall correctly Grand Central re-wired their power cars to be compatible with loco hauled Mk3s, while conversely other operators re-wired loco hauled coaches.

Grand Central did the same as the other operators. The coaches were converted to HST 415V three phase supply.

The only power car that can supply standard loco hauled ETS is 41001.

If you hadn't noticed, HST power cars have been used on preserved lines in the past. They can work with any air-braked, buckeye-fitted stock, just without electric supply (unless they are HST trailers).

I was alluding to electrics plus the speed differential 125 vs 25.

Wrong way round; the LHCS was rewired. Converting the power cars would require a total engineering overhaul.

I was alluding to electrics plus the speed differential 125 vs 25.
Great Central will be able to operate at 60mph.

Out of interest don't rail adventure have 8 the four at Eastleigh and the four at Willesden in London?

Unless something has happened two the other two at Eastleigh in which was meant for rail adventure i.e. the x4 that arrived there very early March 2021 of this year.

I did the list in that format to make it easier to see what was where, rather than having to scroll through a list of all nearly 200 power cars. Whilst it might not be to your taste I’m sure others will appreciate it.

I thought the DATS ones remained Porterbrook owned, thanks for the correction. None of them however have been used for several months, whilst on paper they might not be stored, for simplicity I listed them as stored as you won’t see them anywhere other than Leicester LIP.

Why has GWR acquired so many power cars for parts, compared to the other two public TOC operators?

Fair enough!

But why show them as leased when the document you’ve taken the information from says otherwise? :s

As the 125 group list Is always a few months behind sadly... has anyone got a complete list of all HST power cars and their current status?
The list is kindly compiled by one of our volunteers whenever they have time and I normally upload it within a few hours of the update landing! It's normally updated every 1-2 months and things aren't changing that quickly nowadays!

Thanks for sharing the list, was very handy as the link wasn’t working for me.
If you were having an issue accessing the list on the 125 Group site, can you drop me a DM with more details and I'll take a look?

Two (43296 and 43308) were acquired only as spare parts donors, so I put them in that list instead. The operational fleet with Rail Adventure will just be the six 43/4s.

I misread it.

Thanks for doing that, it was appreciated be me at least...
I also appreciate it, very helpful for my list @DanNCL :D
