Ah right, Was it an actual assessment or just more questions as i've not applied for SR before.
It was an OPC questionnaire. 3 different stages. The first one was just about you; almost exactly what was already on the application form. The second one was an agree/disagree questionnaire on different activities to do with safety, concentration and what kind of person you are. The last one was choosing 4 most important and 2 least important things for a driver from a selection of about 11 or 12. The classic ‘there’s never a right or wrong answer’ but there probably is.

I just sat the OPC assessment last week… have you had anything in regards to a pass/fail or onto the next stage?

Ah yes I understand know I did one of those assessments when I applied for TPE last year.

Nothing yet. Though the fact I, like others, don’t have a ‘under consideration’ option now worries me slightly.
Just checked my profile and I don’t have ‘under consideration’ either for this intake yet when I applied back in January 2023 I did have this option and it sat like that for almost a year.

Maybe they’ve pulled the plug on it? Just a thought.

Some rubbish/odd news re. mine. I spoke to recruitment a few weeks ago, and they informed me that my application from December 2022 is still under consideration.

I saw the March '24 opening, and asked the same folk at recruitment if I should apply for it, bearing in mind I still have an application in the pool. They told me that they were advising all people with applications that are still being considered from Dec '22 to apply for the March '24 opening.

I followed their advice, and got my new application sent off Friday night. However, I heard back at 08:30 this morning:

'Unfortunately, on this occasion you haven’t been successful.

Although we are unable to provide feedback at application stage we do wish you well in the future.
'

Seems too soon to have been looked over and considered, no?

I used very similar details in my application from Dec '22; I just tweaked a few answers and added a CPR course that I had since taken. Other than that, no major changes from my Dec '22 application, yet one is being considered, and my most recent seems to have been screened out considering how prompt the response was?

Confused and gutted to say the least.

I can't believe an application from December 22 would still be under consideration. I am well aware recruitment on the railway takes it times and has many steps especially for drivers but wow and I suspect for smaller depots as SR appear to be hiring for multiple you could be sat in a talent pool for a number of months

Hi all

I previously attended assessment in Glasgow a couple years ago and passed, but had to withdraw before attending interview

I submitted by application again Friday evening and have just had an email inviting me to complete online assessments

I applied on the 4th and received an email tonight about the online OPC Psychometric tests. First time doing them. Unsure what to expect.

Previously applied in Nov 2018, passed driver manager interview paper tests and computer tests but failed MMI interview in Jan 2019. I’m guessing these scores won’t count as we’re now just over 5 years later.

This application I submitted on 4th March and the portal showed me as ‘under consideration’. I checked the portal this morning and it had changed to ‘submitted’ like the others in this thread which I thought was a bad sign. But about 5 o’clock tonight I got an email asking me to do the OPC questions by Sunday. These weren’ part of the assessment last time so am very nervous.

Hi.
My husband got invited to an online assessment too this evening ! He has just sat it , anyone did one during last week and heard anything back at all ? Reading all these things about previous applicants being in waiting pools for jobs etc doesn't seem too good and odd that scotrail are re recruiting , he previously applied for fort William but never heard back , I expect because it was hugely advertised everywhere

I guess additional online questions are to cut the number of applications down before invites to face to face assessment in Glasgow so maybe that is why you don’t have to do them because you are already through to face to face stage. Last time I had my driver manager interview before the assessement center. Its weird that the online question invitation is branded for OPC because I thought Scotrail administered all the assessments themselves.

Also its very weird that they’re advertising for drivers now when they still have applications to work through from 2022 and 23 if this forum is to be believed.

I'm not through the face to face. Other than submitting my initial application, I haven't been through any other stage.

Last question, is the OPC assessments timed? Aware once you’re in you can’t leave and return but is there a time you must complete it in? Or can you just take your time? TIA
They’re not. But you shouldn’t spend more than 20 minutes doing the whole thing. I was about 15.

I was advised by a member of Scotrail management recently that there are still 2019 applications being finalised!

Fort william would be an amazing depot to work at but from my understanding their was only one driver position going and they advertised it very heavily I mean it even had news articles written about it. That's probably why it's taking so long then again that's just rail recruitment as a whole. Like others have said some people are still being considered as far back as 2019!!!

Hi there, I have received an invitation from Scotrail to complete some online psychometric assessments following my application for trainee train driver position and I was looking for a heads up on what type of thing these tests may entail prior to me starting them. I have heard a few people talking about a “bourdon test” and was wondering if there’s anywhere I can go to practice this? Thanks, any advice appreciated.

My previous application timeline was application mid Nov 18, face to face driver manager interview mid Dec 18, face to face assessment center early Jan 19. Not sure how they can still be seriously working through applications from 5 years ago now and still be advertising. I know rail recruitment takes a long time and we’ve had covid in the middle but that still seems crazy to me. It will be interesting to see how this timeline compares to my last experience if I hopefully get that far, though I can see this dragging on a lot longer.
