I really wouldn’t be disheartened. My e mail came through as spam. I’ve just completed the test and I feel I was overthinking it. My advice would be to go with your gut and just be yourself. Looking at it thinking what would they like just gets you lost ‍♂️. Fingers crossed and good luck

I can’t seem to DM. I’ve had a look to why and it’s saying it’s because I am a new member. Would like to get in touch once I am able. Thanks
Think you can send DMs after you have posted on the site 3 or possibly 4 times.

I applied for the trainee train driver role for scotrail for the 11/03/24 deadline doing the OPC assessment not heard anything back, is it safe to assume that my application is not going any further forward.

Hi guys. New here. I did my initial opc tests on 8th march. I received an email today saying I’d passed and now I’ve to do a final opc test on situational awareness. Good luck on your applications.
Hi , new on here.
I did my opc test on 14th still waiting on reply .
Hopefully soon.
Can you remember what numbers you went for on the tests.
I went for 15,11,4,9 for most important .
think I went for 1,14 or 13 for least .
Was just wondering
If you remember & if I did ok ?
Thanks & good luck .

Same here can't remember when I completed mine but it wasn't far off the 8th. I would have thought they would sent you an email saying sorry you didn't make the grade. I know they have alot of people applying so why should they send out an email to those who don't meet the grade but it would make for a much better candidate experience which is Still important.
I completed my OPC tests prior to some of the people on here who are now moving onto the next stage . I think it's safe to say i haven't made the grade .

It would be nice to receive some formal contact from Scotrail rather than me checking my emails every hour hoping for a response .

Just relax some people get email quicker than others until you get unsuccessful email then you are still in. The emails are normally from opc to say you failed not scotrail until you are at face to face assessments anyway

Was just curious.
As I have not applied before
I was unsure how it worked.
Didn’t know that you get a answer
Either way .
Thanks for info & good luck

I'm sure someone has said results would be 7-10 working days, so I'm not stressing about it until 2 weeks after I sat it (Wed 13/3) which will be Wed 27/3. Or if haven'theard anything by then , I'll think...maybe it's 7-10 working days from closing date. No point being pessimistic.

I answered at least 12 questions with ‘Neither agree nor disagree’, so I’ll let you know if I pass, and we can put that theory to bed.:lol:
I‘ve just received an email to complete the Situational Judgement Test.

I completed the original tests on 8th March, so had to wait a bit longer than most people.

Same here I've just received mine and I genuinely thought all hope was lost for my application!

That will be suitable, just a situation with solutions and you pick a,b,c,d

First
Second
Third
And forth choice

I just sat the online SJT, only completed 7 out of the 8 questions before running out of time so it’s unlikely I will be moving on. Rookie mistake.

Do you think maybe you where overthinking it slightly?

8 questions with a 35 min time limit seems adequate.

I wasn't paying attention to my time but seemed like it was only about 15-20 for me.

I think I was just being thorough and lost track of time. Had I set a timer then it would have prompted me to answer more quickly because 35 minutes is more than adequate.

Yeah I suppose, I've had experience with this before same tests I done for edinburgh trams when I became a driver, so I had an idea of what to expect

It’s tricky because if you overthink anything, you will fail at somepoint along the way. The tests are set up in such a way that they want you to find the happy medium. Don’t overthink it, but don’t just press buttons and guess. There’s people literally going through these looking for every single detail and it’s a ruthless process. They’re not afraid to put anyone aside as ultimately, they need to whittle it down to a much lower number.

Similarly if anyone is arrogant and think they’re brilliant, then they too will get caught out. It’s a true test of your personality in my opinion.

Look at it this way though, answering 7 questions that you’ve got an eye for detail for might not be what they’re looking for in a drivers recruitment process, but I’m sure something else in the railway would be the exact opposite. There are many jobs that require such fine attention to detail, operations for one. Again I’m not saying drivers don’t have attention to detail, it’s just of a different type.

I'd probably say make sure you read the practice material and don't overthink the questions. They are designed to assess your character and suitability for the role overthinking or putting what you think they want to hear will just catch you out. You want to make sure you are focusing on speed and accuracy. You need to be a critical thinker to be a driver but also have to assess things quickly. Good luck

I did my test yesterday and have been told that it will be a good couple weeks to find out if successful. I found question 7 really tricky. It was the one where the PA system wasn’t working. I think I fluffed that one.

On a side note and in preparation for the practical tests, does anyone know of any mock tests we can do?
