RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

Yes, I understand that, but they're not listening to those that are affected and they haven't done since the start.

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

When did it look like negotiated settlements were in sight? I don't remember that. How have the RMT moved the goalposts? Even if what you are trying to say is true, the government could've imposed changes months ago, if they so wanted. I don't think the government have any intention of...

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

My question is; why hasn't the government just imposed these changes? The RMT are quite obviously not going to agree to them and the government aren't going to water them down, so why don't they just impose? Of course, I don't want them to do that, but I'm curious as to the why.

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

Yes, but the government aren't moving on those terms. That's the problem.

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

Mainly drivers, plus guards. I don't think there's any other grade affected. Certainly not my grade. That's Network Rail. Nothing to do with this dispute.

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

You keep saying this, but it's not true.

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

The government could've done that a long time ago. They could've imposed these changes if they wanted to. The government haven't moved their negotiating position, simply because they don't want to negotiate. What the RMT are asking for is no more extreme than what the government are asking...

RMT announces further strike action for TOCs & overtime ban for Network Rail

I didn't vote to strike due to not liking the Tories, I voted to strike because my terms and conditions are being destroyed. I don't know anyone who voted to strike for political reasons. The very suggestion is ludicrous. The politics are being played by the government who decided to start and...

RMT rejects latest offer from both Network Rail and RDG (TOCs)

We haven't asked for an inflationary pay-rise, strings or no. Acceptable to who? None of the changes proposed are acceptable to me, or any of the colleagues I've spoken to. We're not opposed to change, but to completely rip up our terms and conditions is not acceptable.

RMT rejects latest offer from both Network Rail and RDG (TOCs)

If they had any intention of doing that they could have done it months ago.

RMT rejects latest offer from both Network Rail and RDG (TOCs)

Even if the RMT are playing politics (I don't buy it, but playing devil's advocate...), the membership aren't. I guarantee you won't find a member involved in this dispute who wants this to go on and on to bring the government down. It's a ridiculous suggestion for a couple of reasons - one...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

My understanding is yes, we'll all be working five days a week, with no guarantee of when our rest days will be, or if they'll be together. My reading of it suggests the roster clerk will have their pick of all staff to fill each position. Writing rosters will be a walk in the park if this...

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

It also doesn't take into account the threat of redundancy. There's no point accepting a pay deal with 5 years worth pay rises etc, if in December 2024 we can be made redundant and forced to sign up to the lower salary (if we want to say on the railway).

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

Excellent post, well said. I agree completely.

New offer made to RMT by Rail Delivery Group

We 'knew' that but we didn't know it. It wasn't that long ago that the government actually stopped saying it was between the TOCs and the unions. Anyway, it's irrelevant.
