    If you want the official training session, about 20 years back it was a solid 2 weeks in a classroom in Derby. Finishing off with a 6 hour open book exam with answers provided. And you still ran out of time.

    Can't see a weld in the rail there, more likely to be a Rail Flaw. Plates for failed welds are a different style. Indian railways film clip.

    Mills clips may be obsolete but they are still in place in many areas. Main problem with them is they are subject to corrosion especially on the bottom side of the clip in the housing. Easily cured by installing new clips, cheaper than a relay if everthing else is still serviceable..
