Thank you, I’ve been suffering with man-flu so everything has slipped under my radar
No worries.

I will say too 3708 does seem more speedy, it was quite packed and was still doing a decent speed around chaddesden

In fairness on 24s the only real place you’d notice a vehicle being slow is Mansfield road, with it being a hill & buses turning out it can really test most vehicles.

I’ve not sampled any ‘new’ ones yet but hopefully they are good replacements for the OmniCitys.

I had a pulsar struggle alot on hereford road too. I'd assume thats why they were putting them on x38s first to see how they cope under speed and such. (Seemed like it was what they were doing till they introduce one on the 2/A..)

MX09 JHH new code is 3712 currently on 20. Tracking on SP DC

All their buses look battered, I was behind a decker with the vinyls peeling off and looking very unclean with a dark substance from the engine.
Ah, the joys of private equity.

The full rear adverts have been removed from the whole fleet recently due to the contract expiry, so the deckers do look a little scruffy, the ‘dark substance’ is likely to be an oil of kind, but if you were behind the decker that means it was still working. I’d rather a scruffy looking bus on time than a ‘really good’ bus that doesn’t show up.

Not quite removed from the whole fleet . Saw a Scania leave the bus station with a yellow and blue advert this morning.

Maybe is is just being kept on because the vehicle is being withdrawn soon.
Highly likely, but it makes you wonder why they bothered with removing many of the others. I guess the contract may have come to an end, or a new advert is incoming. Always seems to be Hilton garage adverts.

Puzzled......What Scania has Arriva Midlands got ??
Derby has several

I can live with the scruffy outside, although it's hardly the way to encourage new users.

What disgusts me is the star of Arriva buses internally. There not just worn and scruffy inside, they are filthy. Arriva have never managed to keep their buses clean inside. Windowsills with an inch of dust and grime, stained and ripped seats, dirty walls and seat backs. They might pick the litter up before it goes back in service each day, but that's it.

Arriva Midlands covers Telford and a number of their buses have rear adverts. The E300s transferred in are in a pretty grotty state externally. One of the most annoying features of Telford buses is their tendency to run around with open windows even in December. The ones with closed windows are normally warm enough, the rest freezing.

There used to be some in Leicester... before I can remember. But more recently, Omnicity 3580 (YN04 AHA) operated out of Coalville a few years ago on the 16 for a few days before being withdrawn.
I loved those old omnicities!

Is that any different to when Arriva was owned by the German state railways?
It's getting worse IMO - Derby didn't have any major route deviations in years, then I Squared come in and start cutting and merging routes to reduce operating costs. They also managed to ruffle TB with the X38 service.

Pray tell, what “cutting and merging routes to reduce operating costs” has been instigated by I Squared? Derby’s bus network is no more designed in Miami than it was in Berlin when Arriva PLC was owned by Deutsche Bahn.

About time somebody ruffled Mr Morgan’s feathers judging by the comments on the Wellglade thread about their horrendous lost mileage. I understand that Arriva repeatedly offered to Trent to take on their workings so they didn’t need to keep robbing buses from Mickleover, but Trent weren’t interested. No wonder Arriva stepped in to run the journeys Trent were regularly dropping.

What major route deviations and cutting? The 1s already had 3 variations and now has more buses in the evening and Sundays with the 1b extension. The new 6 seems to cover the busiest section of the 5 and also compliments the 4 and 7 to almost double the number of buses via the Cavendish to Sinfin. The X38 change sounds like it was in the pipeline for a while.

And whatever people may think about the X38 service changes, Arriva have certainly delivered an improvement for their customers.
