Would anyone be as kind as to give a list simply detailing which have been scrapped and which remain? I’m not after dates or locations; I’m just curious to know which remain.

I unfortunately missed that one. Are all units from Doncaster heading to Newport?
Good question.
Like the crewe ones some have gone to booths masboro rotherham.
Only 365529 off the crewe ones remain at crewe.
I think the one from crewe is booths bound.
However all the Belmont ones have been singular moves.
Will any multiple ie double sets occur from Belmont yard also for scrap
However a few sources off mine keep on telling me that like the ex atw/tfw 142 Pacers this time last year.
Sadly the 365s have the same story off a destruction order on them.

See message #709 for those that remain, less 365508 as dispatched above

Is there a reason why all the odd number units were withdrawn before the even number units?

I will miss them.
Sad to see them go . Pity to see them go for scrap.
Agree. An unfortunate combination of circumstances as described upthread.

Hi. About 365525. Will it operate on all parts of the ECML?
It depends if 525 will be operated at all. But for context, ETCS is currently being fitted to the Moorgate branch and will work its way up from there.

Will it be fitted with third rail gear, or be restricted as far as Drayton Park?

New shoe gear can be made to replace the gear that got lost years ago.
If it was just shoe gear that was the problem, they might have found more use. It seems unlikely that 365525 needs to go south of Drayton Park.

All DC current collection equipment (shoe beams, cables, arc shields, fuse boxes etc) were removed during conversion at Doncaster works. One set were retained by Bombardier for possible pattern use at some point in the future but they were lost at Crewe works during the closure. The rest went in the skip. This was done as it was recognised at the time that the odds of 365's ever going back to DC operation were extremely long.

My understanding is that it was related to how the fleet was originally financed by BR - the odd numbers were financed differently to the even numbers.

I think its highly unlikely its going to get its 3rd gear refitted just saying it is possible.
Anything’s possible with enough money!

But no, I doubt that 525 will be involved with Moorgate. It wouldn’t make any sense, given that the 717s are the only passenger stock that operate the Northern City.

Hopefully it will be completed by next year. Unit 525 has already been fitted with the equipment. Also not all is lost if will be kept for departmental use then.

Yes other than departmental use I cannot see why one standalone 365 would find an operating future. While scrapping it like the rest wouldn't surprise me, this would highlight a lot of wasted work, regardless of contractual obligations.

The Class 365 ETCS fitment programme has been ongoing since 2015, so it’s certainly not anything new.

It's a shame we're not getting a cab carriage going into preservation.

I get that modern DMUs and EMUS aren't really valued or have the same cache, but I still think we should be trying to keep examples of trains like these. Northumbria Rail have a Class 442 cab carriage which is nice, but generally on the network, I'd hate it if all our current units went to scrap unrecorded.

(I guess my big fear is that we won't get a Class 158 in preservation. Those are the units that rescued Regional Railways, so they're fairly important - and I still reckon they're among the best trains on the network, especially the Inverness ones.)

Yes there is zero point in sending a 365 to Moorgate... For starters, forgetting the lack of DC, they're probably not cleared.

Its way more likely they'd use a 717 to test it all!

Or that 313 test unit they already have for initial tests? Presumably the 717 fleet came with ETCS fitted as new?.

I would imagine that when they sent 525 for trial fit, the class still had a future.
