Showing as cancelled on RTT and Railcam and no sign on open train times maps apart from an 0Z25 that has just pulled out from the Depot.

Does anyone know what going on? :o

Ignore the above, it's just appeared as running on RTT for both workings. :D

Is it me or do Class 360's don't look from 2002?
To me they look older than that.

I think it's the lights and the simple front design that ages it.

Although with LED headlights and a fresh paint job, it will make them look much more modern.

I think if you make the headlights look like they do on high-speed trains (Curvy Triangles) It would look near to brand-new I bet.

Indeed, even this picture I found with a full yellow front plus rounded edges makes the front look less flat and basic.

When new, the First logo was positioned between the lights, which made the front seem more complete. Personally given the rather unattractive front end a lot of modern units I have, I like the simplicity.

You have to remember that the front was a late design change as the original cab was supposed to have corridor connections which had to be dropped because of visibility concerns. Siemens didn't spend huge amount of time on it, if they did you'd probably have ended up similar to the 185.

They also had a pink and purple stripe at the bottom of the train when new, along with First logo, see my profile photo.

With the amount of time some have been parked up at cricklewood, they could have gone to bedford to have vinyl applied.

Is it still on-time for a takeover of Corby services from May?
Driver-training and all other factors provided yes

I don’t think the refurbishment’s being done in house - the units are also getting a repaint too.

That’s 109 and 119 gone - just 111 left.

What's happening to the ex tfl 360s are they going to emr too?
As stated previously, no they are not.

Their future is unknown - plenty of speculation, though, which isn’t for this thread.

Question - with maintenance taking place at Northampton on occasion, does this mean that ROG, GBRF etc. are going to have to haul them each time a 360 needs attention there?

I believe so as there was talk of this upthread, apparently there isn't the required electrification in place for the entire move to be done with a 360 on it's own power.

So, as a result, we shall all enjoy the occasional 360 on the WCML now and again! Yay more variety! :D

They are still owned by Heathrow and not a ROSCO, unless they sell them to one, the 360/2 fleet won't be up for redeployment. Even if they were available, the COVID situation isn't leaving any ToCs needing more capacity. In normal times you would imagine a ToC like SWR or LNWR would take them on and keep them on lines away from their gangwayed fleet like Ascot - Guildford or the Abbey line.

For speculation regarding the ex Heathrow Class 360s please see this thread:

Where could the ex-Heathrow Connect class 360/2s be used? Or will they be scrapped? | RailUK Forums (railforums.co.uk)

Discussion here should be about EMR Class 360s.

Thanks

Mention in the latest edition of Modern Railways, an interior refurbishment is planned with EMR intending to go to the market seeking a contractor during 2021.
Certainly don't appear to be in any hurry to make the units fit for purpose. You'd think the next few months to May would have been the perfect opportunity for beginning the refit and repainting.

I definitely agree especially with the number of 360 units being stabled at Cricklewood and Kettering now. But then again it’s not surprising. It would even be nice to see an EMR Uniform.

Why have they left it so late to tender for this?
