A Class 170 operates the 17:42 Derby to Crewe via stoke on trent.
Interesting. Normally the unit for the 1742 comes off a Liverpool at Nottingham before coming over to Derby.

153's now added as they continue to work the Barton on Humber service for northern and it looks like they may work in service to Nottingham in the evening (with a PRM compliant unit) to allow them to be swapped round.

Not sure if this is a regular planned allocation but the 17:07 from Crewe to Derby has been a 170 most weekday evenings in recent weeks.

Ah thanks. Don't know how I missed that one! In an ideal world it would be nice to have class 170s first choice allocated followed by class 158s as substitutions.
Yes that would be ideal but once the 153's and 156's are gone that would be the case.

The HST's this week seem to be diagramed to be out all day on the xx34 from London and xx45 from Nottingham just like before the December timetable change. This will probably change the 180 diagrams as well.

That is to provide more capacity for this week only whilst Kings Cross is closed.

Two 180s started the day yesterday but one failed mid morning.
Ah ok. It's just that every day the 1705 London - Notts seems to be 5 vice 10 while the 1634 is 10 vice 5 on the train updates on the website at the moment.
`
Living up to their reputation, then!
Even better today as the 1705 from London is 8 vice 10 car which would make is a double 4 car 222 so no 180's out.

I’m surprised - I travelled on one of EMR’s 180s the other week from Leicester to STP and it was a smooth journey with no faults and delays. Must’ve caught that 180 on a good day...

They are decent enough to travel on when they work - the trouble is that they stop working pretty regularly!

1834 London to Sheffield via Notts

43102 + NL58 + 43238

Is the STP-STP via Oakham ECS going all the way until the timetable change?

Morning all.

The weekday 1B16 0711 Nottingham to St Pancras International - can I now assume this is a 7 car Meridian, and not an HST?

Thanks for your assistance.

Would think so. After the timetable change it is basically replaced by a passenger service from London to Melton and return.

It is a 222. Probably more likely to be a 5 car than 7 car as it forms the 0931 to Sheffield which is normally a 5 car 222.

If I’ve got the right train RTT says yes the path exists throughout the timetable period, 5M17 on weekdays but not Wednesday. But it is also a Q path (runs as required).

I'm not entirely sure where to put this so please forgive me/move it elsewhere if it's the wrong place or already covered...

From the above can I deduce that EMR will have for the May timetable?

5 x 3 car 170
7 x 2 car 170
26 x 2 car 158
24 x 2 car 156 (how many/when do some leave for Northern?)
Possible some 153's unless they are all off lease by then?

Updates/correctionns welcome!
From what I can work out by trawling through what's been uploaded to the open data feeds (as viewed via Real Time Trains), I would guess that from the May Timetable 47 units are required for EMR's regional services on weekdays (assuming none are diagramed for a pair all day).

28 of those go on routes other than Liverpool-Nottingham/Norwich which has already been established elsewhere shall most likely remain 158 worked.

Currently, assuming this expected fleet is still something like reality, 12 x 170, plus 7 x 158 (allowing a full complement of 19 for LIV-NRW), also allowing for 3 units maintenance cover, at least 12 156s will need to stay with EMR

Looking at RTT and the platform numbers your train is working:
0649 Sheffield to London
1121 London to Nottingham
1345 Nottingham to London
1620 London to Nottingham.....

It looks like the 1111 London to Sheffield goes off the same platform as the 1121 so I would assume it will either be a 4 or 5 car 222 which has come in as a double set. I would doubt it be a 180 as they have only been up to Sheffield once so far as far as I can tell.

It is allocated 222002.

Over the next week or so the diagrams on the first post will be updated for the new timetable once known. For now I have stated to go thought RTT for the class 360 workings.

I've been trying to go through RTT to work out Regional DMU diagrams. It's fairly straightforward until a unit goes on depot. Some are just briefly to get out of the way, and the return is the same headcode, not always though, and that's where the guesswork starts!

And there's one or two workings with no corresponding return, or returns with no corresponding outward trip! So guessing what they join with to get there. Again it's usually straightforward.

It will be interesting to find out how close to the actual results my guesses were!

I would offer to share what I've got so far, but my technical skills are somewhat limited!:lol:

Hopefully I can start populating the Intercity and Regional diagrams next week. Started on the 360's first as they are easy to work out  .

The 153's will continue on the Barton branch and most likely Skegness strengthening (will have to join with a PRM compliant unit to get to and from Nottingham) and the 170's will appear on more routes.
