I have a feeling this bus will get re-painted while its side panels are replaced.38494 has litterly just scraped along the side of a private hire taxi while turning from Renfrew at on to renfield street. Little damage apart from cosmetic to both.
But the problem is that they cost more to fuel than other buses, that’s why Glasgow moved them to Aberdeen originally. No joke, with the availability of buses in FGLA still being an issue, they should seriously consider buying some of these back.
They've still got Geminis on 07 plates soldiering on, these are a perfect opportunity given they were new here.
Noted, but I still think the pros outweigh it. Converted to Euro 6 by Birmingham Busworks, high capacity, in FirstBus spec, and they don't need to add on that ungodly 10k extra for seatbelts. But the problem is that they cost more to fuel than other buses, that’s why Glasgow moved them to Aberdeen originally.
They got moved on because they still command a high resale value being high capacity vehicles. The extra £10k for belting them is nothingNoted, but I still think the pros outweigh it. Perhaps they should consider upgrading them to electrics from diesel. But the problem is that they cost more to fuel than other buses, that’s why Glasgow moved them to Aberdeen originally.
You’re very optimistic that it will even see the paintshop over a bump as small as thisI have a feeling this bus will get re-painted while its side panels are replaced.
That was my thoughts with the current shortages especially deckers (singles are becoming a common occurrence on the 41 and other decker routes.)You’re very optimistic that it will even see the paintshop over a bump as small as this
I feel like that would cost even more, since they’re tri-axle buses.Perhaps they should consider upgrading them to electrics from diesel.
It would mean more powered axles for electric drives.I feel like that would cost even more, since they’re tri-axle buses.
Any time Glasgow procures tri-axles or artic buses they never last very long before being cascaded elsewhere. It would mean more powered axles for electric drives.
There currently is a design for an E500ev. However these reworked buses would be substantially cheaper than buying a new vehicle.
A similar process was carried out to 70101 that currently is in use in Glasgow
No way would that be worth it for a 16 year old bus, I know I've newly defended the age of them but you've got to draw a different line with repowers, and then there's the fact ADL don't even offer it for that model of bus, to my knowledge. If FGLA is going to convert any of their diesels in the future it would probably be the 68 / 19 plate batch of 400MMCs, plus 34402, but I don't know if ADL even offer repowers for them yet.Perhaps they should consider upgrading them to electrics from diesel.
They where converted to Euro 6 through First in Aberdeen with the Scottish Government fundingNoted, but I still think the pros outweigh it. Converted to Euro 6 by Birmingham Busworks, high capacity, in FirstBus spec, and they don't need to add on that ungodly 10k extra for seatbelts.
Yup they spent most their working lives in a coastal location, thus they've been exposed to a higher than average level of tinrot accelerant! The e500s were sold because a) they got a fortune to run in fuel and b) they can command a decent price on resale value as school buses. If you can run 2 e500s instead of 3 regular deckers on schools work - the sums can perhaps stack up. However, in all day service, the fuel cost is massive. As for repowering a SIXTEEN year old vehicle... people need to appreciate that the rest of the vehicle (like the chassis, suspension, bodywork) will be getting to a state where it also won't have a long life in front of it.
Be assured - they won't be coming back.
I hear two or three E200EVs have gone back to ADL this week after returning from the mass recall, I would assume that's why Caley have a couple of E300s just now. Also noticed that both Essex Streetlites are sat there doing nothingI’ve been on two 1Cs that have been E200EVs this week, and honestly, they’re worse than the E300s.
They constantly rattle and shake on the Clydeside Expressway, to the point I feel like they’re going to fall apart at any second. I feel for all the passengers who’ve felt with this problem before when they’re on the X4.
I feel like there are two possible things going on for them.I hear two or three E200EVs have gone back to ADL this week after returning from the mass recall, I would assume that's why Caley have a couple of E300s just now. Also noticed that both Essex Streetlites are sat there doing nothing
Doubt they're in for repaint. Essex will be wanting them back, and all their 72 reg batch are in that livery. Though, it looks like the Urbans might be staying nowI feel like there are two possible things going on for them.
1. They’re getting ready to be sent back to Essexs.
2. They’re going to get re-painted into the new livery.
Rumours are that they have found yet more problems with the e200evs especially the 1st lotI hear two or three E200EVs have gone back to ADL this week after returning from the mass recall, I would assume that's why Caley have a couple of E300s just now. You know, at this point with the amount of recalls the E200EVs have been having, they should just convert some of the trainer Eclipses back into service buses.Rumours are that they have found yet more problems with the e200evs especially the 1st lot
I had assumed that was happening with at least one since Aberdeen gave one of their four trainers to Caley depot a few weeks ago, but it doesn't look to be the caseYou know, at this point with the amount of recalls the E200EVs have been having, they should just convert some of the trainer Eclipses back into service buses.
69258 and 69263 would be easy buses to get re-entered back into service, as they have barley been modified with their interiors (there’s not really any missing seats on them), just repaint them into the new livery, and they would fit in with the originally loaned Eclipses (which are probably staying in Glasgow now).
They do not announce orders now, but the amount of electric buses they said they intend to have by March 2026 would indicate they were just expecting the Glasgow and Aberdeen ones we know about and the balance could potentially be 2 batches of the re-engined Steetdecks, if First are including them. This was before the London acquisition so it does not include them. There is Zebra2 funded buses for England which are all due by October 2025, which has already been announced.Further to my post above does Girstbusually announce a Group order fir new vehiclesbin the Spring. It might be interesting to see what happens if and when First a. Ounces a Groip wide order.
I mean, they should really do something like that, or refurb the Olympian Eclipses 69271, 69272, and 69299 at least. Those buses are a bit in shambles.I had assumed that was happening with at least one since Aberdeen gave one of their four trainers to Caley depot a few weeks ago, but it doesn't look to be the case
They work perfectly fine and no point doing work to something thats uncertain how long its here forI mean, they should really do something like that, or refurb the Olympian Eclipses 69271, 69272, and 69299 at least. Those buses are a bit in shambles.
Oh dear. Is it bad?BYD E400 EV on fire in summerston, arson by the looks of things
Not really surprisingly, looks to all be internal damageOh dear. Is it bad?
