Go supervise it then

I don't see why people can't find womens football interesting as well as mens.

An old boss of mine said women's football was "...Just bizarre, like a horse wearing a hat..."

I've watched a couple of the games so far. The opener was not the most thrilling game, and Canada only snatched victory with a (only slightly contentious) stoppage time penalty. Germany sauntered past Ivory Coast 10-0, but that game was easily as exciting as most of the Championship games I've seen this season.

One notable difference between the women's and men's game is the vastly lower incidence of both theatrics and dissent in the former.

Liverpool state that they have "provisionally" signed Danny Ings from Burnley, subject to the satisfactory result of a medical yet to take place. The actual transfer date is said to be 1st July, but no fee has yet been agreed between Burnley and Liverpool.

He's out of contract so why is a fee required rather than being like Milner on a bosman.

Seems many Liverpool fans are unimpressed with the signing.

Brendon Rogers said he misheard them, when they were shouting "make some signings" he thought they were saying "make sure you sign Ings"????????????????????????

He's unproven. He scored a few goals early season then dropped off. I think he would be a good signing for a 10th - 15th place team but not top half yet.

Saying that he scored more than lambert, Sturridge, balotelli and borini combined.

Some of their own fans admit they deserve relegation, if they survive I don't think there will be any celebrating nor chants of "John Carver is a football genius"

I think they will survive but I really hope I am wrong!

Well, as events finally turned out with safety only just assured for next season in the Premiership, no-one can really be surprised at the news that both John Carver and Steve Stone have now been sacked.

I do hope that a certain amount of veiled "next season forecasting" is not very subtly contain with your posting...

It sounds as if Steve McClaren is on his way to Newcastle. He won't be missed by many of the Pride Park faithful.

Seems reasonable, get sacked in the Championship for sub standard results and walk into a premier league job...

The whole thing was a done deal shortly after Alan Pardew left Newcastle. Steve McClaren and Mike Ashley devised a scheme which would see Steve McClaren refusing to resign thus saving Newcastle having to pay compensation and ensuring that Steve McClaren received severance pay. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Steve McClaren now gets a 'golden hello' when he joins the Mags. Its a win win for Steve.

If Manchester United do indeed manage to sign 21 year-old Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven, they will have a very promising forward at the start of a senior career, who did not let himself down with his football skills in the last World Cop, when a certain personage was managing the Netherlands side and he has scored 21 goals for PSV Eindhoven this current season.

All matters are now finally completed on this transfer and a four-year contract has been signed, with the medical showing no problems. PSV Eindoven will receive a transfer fee of £31 million for the 21 year-old winger.

Was hoping we would get him. Never gonna happen though.

Slovenia 2 v 3 England....

Well that was quite a good match - I missed seeing the Rooney no 48 Winner as I left work when I thought it was going to be a draw.

The Slovenians were quite "dirty" at times - that "forearm smash" was somewhat reminiscent of wrestling on ITV at teatime on Saturdays in years gone by :p

I've not watched the game but it was clearly due to Delph that England won <D

Funny you should say that, because with five minutes left (of normal time) and Slovenia having scored only two minutes earlier, the ITV commentator said "Rooney's won it for England!"

You really didn't miss much though, quick counter attack, sloppy defending, Rooney left with only the keeper to beat.

I only watched the first half of the match and as time went on in that period, one could have been forgiven in thinking that in comparison with the standard of skill levels, creative midfield thinking, etc, that was displayed in the Champions League final between Barcelona and Juventus, one could only but despair at the fare that was being served by both teams in that time period. My good lady wife was heard to utter..."Why are they showing an Oldham Athletic match on a Sunday"....:oops:

One only has to see the top teams in the English Premiership with numerous foreign players possessing of a far higher skills ability than the typical English player and then wonder if the move by certain football bodies to restrict the number of foreign players available to the team squads and to ensure their replacements with home-grown players in order to ensure that first-team football is available to them, which in turn is naively supposed to aid the English national team in major competitions.

All this will do is to ensure that the England team will have more "dross" with Premiership matches under their belts available for selection to the England squad and when it comes to the latter stages of major competitions and the England team have to face teams with far superior tactical and skills ability, the stupidity of that aspirational pipe-dream will be revealed for the paucity of leadership at the highest national football organisations over here.

As proof of the old adage "It never rains but it pours", Rangers International Football Club plc has been delisted from the AIM Stock Exchange and trading in the shares in this company has been officially suspended.

One matter now taken by Rangers since they did not move out of the Scottish Championship was to address the matter of the team manager. They have now appointed Mark Warburton, the very first Englishman to be appointed to fill that particular role, on a three-year contract.

Perhaps having been playing in this match, he would have been somewhat annoyed that Jack Grealish, instead of him, had decided to show off some of the new Aston Villa training techniques in Tenerife...:D:D

The draw has been made for the first round of the League Cup. Huddersfield have either an easy draw or a potential banana skin, at home to Notts County...

Oldham got repeat of last season first round as we got play offs finalise Middlesbrough at home, Middlesbrough won it easily last season and I expect them to do again in August, question is will new stand be ready for this game as I hear that Oldham have request to play first two league matches away as new stand may not be ready (Latics have already sold 2,000 season tickets for new stand) but saying that only two stand will probably needed for home fans as we probably not get big crowd for this cup game anywhere.

No doubt any of these four matches will get pick for TV.

Accrington v Hull
Doncaster v Leeds
Bristol Rovers v Birmingham
Yeovil v QPR

Hi,
Noticed that this season in League 2 even more local or fairly local derbies have cropped up, not always short mileage, but for example, Plymouth v Exeter nearest rival club, some re-appear from last season, but with the relegated clubs and promotion from the conference there seems to be quite a few:-

Plymouth v Exeter 45 miles
Exeter v Yeovil 47 miles
Newport County v Bristol Rovers 29 miles
Notts County v Mansfield 15 miles
Leyton Orient v Dagenham & Redbridge 11 miles
Wycombe v Oxford 25 miles
Leyton Orient v Barnet 12 miles
Barnet v Luton 24 miles
Luton v Stevenage 14 miles
Crawley v AFC Wimbledon 36 miles

Although the mileages are higher the grouping of Northampton/Luton/Stevenage/Cambridge are all reasonably local 35 / 45 miles, bit more for Cambridge v Northampton

Nice to see all Oldham local derby matches will be played on Saturday but my only disappointed is Blackpool away is on boxing day and with no train service on that day it mean I wouldn't be att that match. :(

I see Plymouth v Carlisle is on Tues night :o I wonder how many Carlisle fans will go down there on Tuesday 18th August?

Nice to see our New Year fixture on 2 January is away at Gillingham, Bradford's longest trip of the whole season. Thanks for that.

That said, it could be worse: both Gillingham and Colchester have to come to us for a midweek game.

Seen a good bit of banter on Twitter between fans. Plymouth based Twitter account replied to a tweet from Carlisle saying at least it will be daylight when they get home.

Gillingham also have an awqay trip to Plymouth for the 1st round of the League cup, quite a journey. Having said that Plymouth once played Gillingham at The Priestfield on Boxing Day, lost, had a player sent off and away supporters were on open terracing - and it was snowing!

In the Premier League fixtures on Saturday, 8th August, just to prove that the football authorities regard the Football thread on RailUK forums very highly, there is the fixture of bb21 versus SS4....:D

I guess it really is happening. :D

Premiership. Bloody hell!

Our fitures don't come out until 1st of July basically because are compiled by a 95 year old bloke in his shed on the back of several fag packets and pigeon feed bags from his mate who shares the shed with him. He began compiling this as soon as the make up of the Division was known but needs plenty of time for alterations as he will firstly have had Gateshead away at Torquay on a Tuesday night. It'll then become the 3rd July then the 5th July until he's happy there are at least 2 or 3 fixtures for each club that will f**K up the regular supporter, he will then release them.

PS I'm not joking either.
