As the standing down and replacement of the EMT Sets continue, 43073 + 423 moved former NL01 Vehicles 41057, 40730 & 42111 from Neville Hill to Leicester today for onward preservation by the 125 Group.

Thanks for this. The original announcement had vehicles from NL03 being preserved by the 125 Group, so presumably there has been a swap?

The three HST coaches that have been transfer to Leicester - 40730 41057 42111 were always going to the 125 Group - once they had finished their time with EMR. ..... Peter.

Thanks for the replies. So to confirm, there should be another three vehicles from NL03 joining 40730, 41057 and 42111 at some point?

Numbers are known. See above. They were published at the start of the year both in 125 Group’s magazine and in the railway press (Rail Express for definite) and the contract was agreed with Porterbrook back then.

The Group also has three loco-hauled Mark IIIs and 10202 which is being converted to a brake vehicle to operate as either loco-hauled or HST.

Not many prervation groups have two locos and eleven carriages to look after.

That's the second time you've posted that - and it was posted before that - so it doesn't really help!

They were there, but I think have moved on - they've been sold on for static re-use, I believe.

Current Railway Mag has 40807 and 41161 as sold to The Wee Choo-Choo Ltd, Pitlochry, and currently at Reid Freight Services yard at Stoke.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but why are so many HST carriages still being sent for scrap?

In recent years GWR, Scotrail and Cross-Country have all reintroduced HSTs (after refurbishment) so the HST power cars and carriages currently off-lease should be kept in store as they may be a chance that they can be put back into service at some point.

The comfort levels and general ambience on an HST is far better than on Voyagers, IEPs, IETs, etc.
