37884 with 12125 & 12154 as barrier vehicles taking 42191 42193 42192 42146 42128 42238 42199 42198 42239 on 5Q42 09:50 ELY PAPW to NEWPORTDK 24/09/21

Good to finally see the end of the storage of these vehicles as they make their way for shredding; as they never had any further use (being rejected from the EMR programme) it always seemed very strange to spend money storing them.

Five of the coaches were used by EMR until earlier this year - they weren't all EMR rejects.

Which just goes to show how utterly wasteful the railways have been in the last year. A lot of money was spent on those ex LNER Mk3s when they transferred over to EMR including new suspension to finally rid them of the Pegasus stuff (bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy), only to in some cases find use with EMR for about 6 months. All rather sad.

When has the privatised railway ever not been wasteful, honestly? :'(

Very true, The 442 Saga for a start. As I’ve said before, it just frustrates me how, when the airline industry can be more forward thinking and very open to recycling, the railways attitude seems to be splash the cash then throw it in the bin.

Most certainly is ie the ex set from Barrow hill which was also in store there from January 2021.
When stored due to covid 19.
Service reductions.
Should have been two power cars and 7 x nl 51 ex mk3 coaches.
Originally moved to Neville Hill approximately early to mid June.
Memory serves me correctly.
However somewhere are on YouTube there is a video also off this move going through Leeds station.
Either way has been at leeds Neville Hill for past 3 months are so.

Can I confirm that this should have been vehicles 40748, 41120, 41150, 42091, 42150, 42154 and 44094?

If so, I have 41120 as Porterbook owned with the remainder Angel - if that is correct, I guess we may see different onward disposal routes and/or times?

As far as I know yes.
However any further information from the non urgent enguiry thread would be beneficial.
As far as I know Neville Hill should be free off mk3 coaches hst.
Possibly two power cars still there.
But unsure.

41120 is Angel owned, that’s why it has gone to Ely. If it was Porterbrook’s it would have gone to Burton, then Long Marston with the rest of their vehicles.

Chaps, one more for the preserved list: 41095 - which has been purchased (and now delivered to) a private site. More to follow.

Two Appleby-Frodingham Mk3s have also been disposed of as follows:

44015 can be removed from the preserved list, as it has been purchased for a filming contract in Swansea, where it will likely be scrapped afterwards.
40713 Remains preserved, now as the static buffet at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway.

The remaining examples I believe still exist at the site? Could someone confirm?

Porterbrook at Burton.

Please also add 40711 to the preserved list, as this has also now moved to the private site.
Thank you so that's come from nl58 which got moved to burton in may then.
So burton is very slowly having a clear out off its original stored stock.
Also where has 40711 come from.
Many thanks.
Once again

One more for the preserved list formally now. 41207 - Ex Grand Central/EMR has moved from Ely to a private site. 40711 is another ex-Burton vehicle.

More to follow.

List of page 1 now updated.

Are the three recent moves into preservation for static use?

It certainly has been a mixed week for the former Angel / EMT Short sets - One vehicle saved for private use (41207), one vehicle heading to the scrapyard with 42586 in the consist. The Grim Reaper keeps calling for the Lets Go Farewell set but it appears to have escaped another week.
