First East Coast Trains are showing...

I really hope they aren’t the actual paths, some 5 hr journey times there
Weekday times, taken from 28 July

1S91 0545 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1010 4h 25m
1S93 1045 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1517 4h 32m
1S95 1218 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1641 4h 23m
1S97 1436 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1915 4h 39m
1S99 2018 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 0046 4h 28m

1E80 0614 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1051 4h 37m
1E82 0911 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1348 4h 37m
1E84 1114 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1546 4h 32m
1E86 1612 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 2047 4h 35m
1E88 1958 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 0105 5h 7m

Clearly the last one is going to be pathed for engineering work running that late into Kings Cross. The southbound trains seem to variously have pathing allowances around Darlington and Peterborough. The slower northbound trains seem to have pathing issues around Doncaster and York.

Saturday times, taken from 31 July

1S91 0545 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1006 4h 21m
1S93 1025 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1457 4h 32m
1S95 1348 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1825 4h 37m
1S97 1827 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 2256 4h 29m

1E80 0536 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1004 4h 28m
1E82 0849 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1317 4h 28m
1E84 1449 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1914 4h 25m
1E86 1756 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 2229 4h 33m
1E88 1958 Edinburgh to Newcastle 2130 (stables at Tyne Yard)

Sunday times, taken from 1 August, some of which seem a bit better.

1S91 0852 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1310 4h 18m
1S93 1023 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1440 4h 17m
1S95 1209 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 1637 4h 28m
1S97 1624 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 2054 4h 30m
1S99 1923 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh 2339 4h 16m

1Y80 0820 Newcastle to London Kings Cross 1116 -
1E82 1053 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1456 4h 3m
1E84 1352 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 1816 4h 24m
1E86 1545 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 2021 4h 36m
1E88 1852 Edinburgh to London Kings Cross 2322 4h 30m

I get that they’re open access, but 4h23-4h37 regular times aren’t too impressive when only stopping at 2-3 places.

There were very unlikely to get clean paths, you could probably take 20 minutes off that if they had.

Evidently some balancing ECS moves needed to make that work!

Yes, Edinburgh to Newcastle on Saturday night and Newcastle to Kings Cross on Sunday morning.

Saturday
1E88 1958 Edinburgh to Newcastle 2130 (stables at Tyne Yard)

Sunday
1Y80 0820 Newcastle to London Kings Cross 1116

There are a few daytime moves to and from Craigentinny to get the units out of the way / layover. Is the maintenance primarily at Craigentinny or Bounds Green or shared?

Those timings are quite competitive compared to LNER's fast journey times as well (this side of May 22 anyway) so if I were in First's shoes I wouldn't be too unhappy about them.

Incidentally only 2 of the 5 First East Coast runs in each direction (on a weekday) actually stop at Stevenage (basically morning northbound, evening southbound); 3 do not stop.

Classic case of 'get them on the graph' and then find incremental improvements over time?
The ECML re-cast in May 2022 is probably where they will be looking to get improvements. Although as every Operator wants improvements, the extent to which their paths are improved could be limited. Depends who shouts loudest...

Are the Leeds to London early morning EMR services still continuing?

They shouldn’t, as they are not in the franchise spec or the latest track access application. In post #107 their Twitter was quoted as running one evening service only.

Hopefully they see some improvements. If they want to challenge the flights with budget rail they need to fight for the best possible path.

That's what RTT is indeed showing.

Having had time to look further, 2O01 0524 Westbury to Salisbury still runs but instead of working 2V52 hangs about until 0634 when it works 2G81 0704 Westbury to Cheltenham (via Melksham) starting back

Still no North East to South Coast services at all (or Bristol to Manchester for that matter) and half-frequency across most sections of route, a very disapointing show from CrossCountry! At least a full timetable on the Turbos suggests these services should hopefully one day return.
Shame they couldn’t have reinstated the opposite half hour train, even if it only operated on the busiest core section between Bristol and York

First East Coast Trains are Q Paths (operator code LD) and are pick-up Northbound and set-down Southbound at Stevenage

Be interesting when SWR services get uploaded whether the 0640 Bristol service will follow that or if it's been retimed or just plain doesn't exist anymore! Obviously 2G81 turns right at Bradford Jct but that's a lot of trains heading in that direction at that time of morning!

SWR will be the last to be published.

But without the SWR Bristol train a 25 minute gap opens up in the Bath - Bristol service at what under normal circumstances was prime commuting / school transport time.

They're all marked as (Q) Runs as required.

Its worth mentioning that until Oct these will be ECS moves for driver training etc.. Passenger service doesn't actually start till late Oct.

Does anyone know when Avanti will be publishing theirs?
Depends on what you mean by publish? It won't appear on their website's timetable section for a while yet.

Anyway, they are moving back to the 3tph Birmingham/Manchester of yonder days - though I would not be surprised if only 2 of those end up running (at least to begin with).
