From the Eastleigh fence today: "Since Sunday, the remaining coaches of 313220 have been disposed of, and the first coach of 313207. 313209 and 313204 remain in the same position, 313217 has been pulled forward. The final arrivals were 313205 and 313211 on the 11th, the former being visible."

I think it's 211, not 217, adjacent to 205 in your blog photo. The cab paint chips are identical to 211's, when I captured in on its final mainline move on Tuesday this week.

Thanks, I already note 211's number on a picture from Tuesday, and have made the corrections.

You're welcome - and thanks for sharing your fascinating photos "from the fence".

I've been surprised at the pace of disposal. Back in 1991, with Scottish Railrover and a (soggy) summer, my brother and I "visited" MC Metals' sidings; many vehicles must've been languishing there for months. 20s, 26s, the Mexican Bean 104 DMU, MetCams, a yellow ex LNER Gresley Brake coach (latterly used as a tools van). Oh, to go back in time!

To me it seems quite slow. 62599 was basically down to just a chassis on Wednesday (unit 313 207) yet today middle coach 71219 was only half crushed with the other driving coach 62535 still complete and awaiting its fate.

I've been to the fence at Eastleigh Works this Sunday afternoon. My assessment of the scrap queue is working on an assumption that 3 coaches have been scrapped in the past week. If anyone knows otherwise, please advise!

I would agree with your Sunday assessment in your first picture. 207 is no more and the final coach of unit 204 (62532) awaits it fate with unit 209 the next to go then two coaches of 216 although whether they follow 209 to oblivion may depend on whether more shunting is done.

210 in process of scrapping with 219 seemingly next in line from the view from the bridge

Sources? It’s not that I dont trust you but im interested in pics of the recent scrap line.
Arlington has a strict no photo policy in the works so only views from the bridge are public, most usually in this thread from contributor Camerar1. The source are my two eyes and I will not break the Arlington rules....sorry

It's usually a few months behind but there are always some excellent photos to be found from inside the works here -

Most recent pics are from June.
yes Carl has some good official photos from inside the works. At the risk of sparking a whole new debate, the comment on the 7th June batch will no doubt awaken 442 fans !

The Bo'ness railway did at 1 point have the 3 coaches of 314209 for a hydrogen project which ended last year I think, maybe the railway might have some ideas of how they could use the unit but for what purposes I am not going to even attempt to guess.

Posted on the “Scotlands Railways” facebook group that it is headed to the Lathalmond Railway Museum

Don’t know how accurate that is but if it was heading over the Forth then its either that place or Methil but just guessing for any more until confirmed

Still parked in the down slip road onto the QueensFerry Crossing as of tonight, probably due to the RTA on the bridge circa 1800 that backed everyone up - or scheduled who knows.
Same FB group mentions "new home at the fife heritage railway", so presume bound for Kirkland Yard Leven

Let’s hope today goes well and the unit is safely delivered. It will be the culmination of just over two years hard work for me which began with a Teams meeting and then writing a paper to justify why a 313 needed to be designated and then preserved. Following that there were numerous emails with positive results and then a disappointing outcome resulting in the designation being switched. It was a great day when 121 was formally designated but it all went wrong when the intended destination for the unit pulled out.

Thankfully I had an idea for an home and I made it my mission to get everyone who could make this a reality in contact with each other and come up with a plan.

I’ve been involved in seeing a lot of stuff saved over the last three decades but this was a real mission and there were times when it felt like it would all be in vain.

It’s going to be important to me to see it unloaded and in it’s new home. One day I’ll tell the story in more detail of this battle !!
