I think it very likely that this will only be available for purchase as a CCST from Merseyrail stations. Just like the Daysaver, no 3rd party online ticket retailer will be able to sell it.

This is indeed exactly how it's been configured in RCS. It's sellable on CCST by the HE licensee, fulfilled at either a TVM or ticket office.

Will Uber be continuing the 10% credits offer beyond 31st December ?
I had a look, and credits are still showing as being earned on rail bookings. So long may this continue.

However, in still awaiting credits to be applied from a journey made on 8th December. Other journeys I've made after that date have already been credited.

Some GWR advance tickets will be sold at half price between 2nd and 9th January, for travel between 10th January and 13th April.

100,000 standard-class seats and 50,000 First-Class seats will be on offer.

I'll be using the forum's site this year for GWR and GB Rail Sales.

I've just had a look at Uber and they are useless for advance purchases, as in they don't appear to easily sell advance tickets, let alone the GB Rail sale ones. Even with the 10% cashback, they are still more expensive that what can be found elsewhere.

Obviously the GWR and GB Rail Sales are advance ticket purchases only - with the ability to split (using forum site), for even greater savings.

Also, this year some routes do not seem to be available.

Last year, I was able to do Reading to Worcester. This year shows as 'no tickets available' on GWR Sale site.

I think it was the case last year as well, but the GWR sale doesn't seem particularly useful if you have a railcard, with e.g. non-sale advance tickets for Paddington to Plymouth and back on the 16th January being £67 with the sale or £72, including first class outbound, without.

An example I found on the forum site was Reading to Bristol.

Return (Railcard) ticket to Didcot. Then GWR advance sale fare from Didcot to Bristol.

Came in at around £32 (inc site commission).

The sale is handy for those of us who are only entitled to the Network Railcard. Obviously the savings may not be as great if you hold a Senior, Disabled, Veterans, or Two Together Railcard.

Of course with all this, this year, is GWR's ability to actually run the scheduled trains. However, that is a discussion had elsewhere on the forum..

All I will say is, if booking a day out, don't book the very last train of the day home on the return leg.

Merseyrail today (Saturday 4 Jan) are continuing to sell their Daysaver via their app at the full price of £6.20.
Once again they are very slack at providing an efficient ticketing system and only too happy to overcharge if they can get away with it.
Other scams by Merseyrail are Online Daysavers only sold for the entire network and do not advise of lower zone fares available. Ticket machines issue peak return fares at off peak times and not altering passengers when Daysavers would be much cheaper.

The promotional fares are only available at MerseyRail ticket offices and TVMs. MerseyRail's online All Area DaySaver is a strange thing, and I avoid it. Last Sunday when Birkdale ticket office was closed, I travelled without a ticket to Liverpool Central, and at the gateline was directed to the ticket office to buy my All Area Daysaver. Merseyrail does not offer any Off Peak point to point tickets for journeys completely within its network. Railcards cannot be applied to Daysavers, but can be applied to Anytime tickets, which for some journeys can save money.

Seen this on Reddit:

How is the train credit
back changing?

From next week, 10% back in Uber Credits
will only be available for uber One
members, whilst non-members get 5%
credits back.'

Whats more, to help you keep saving on
your train fares, we're launching split
tickets on Uber next week too. Plus, don't
forget we don't charge a booking fee

As a valued Train user, we wanted to offer
you 3 months free on Uber One so you can
continue to earn 10% back in credits on
your train journeys on Uber.2

Both the companies mentioned, had one at this time last year.
Northern's was the first Wednesday of January; I'm not surprised that they didn't announce one on New Year's Day, but no word of one this year yet. TPE's was the 16th to 19th last year, but if the GB Rail Sale's on at the same time, I'm not sure if there'd be anything for TPE specifically.

Tickets for travel on 13 January won't be in the GBRS. The upcoming press release is embargoed until Friday.

Tickets go on sale between 14-20 Jan, for travel between 17 Jan and 31 Mar.
Does the GB Rail Sale include standard off peak tickets too?

Reason I ask is that I'm looking at a trip to Cheltenham. I can book in the GWR sale, which includes a sale advance fare between Reading and Swindon. However, a standard return ticket from Swindon to Cheltenham.

If I wait until next week, is it likely the standard return ticket would get a discount too?

The wording of the offer is

"Train operating companies across England, Wales and Scotland are working together to offer up to 50% off selected Advance tickets on over 2 million journeys. The discounted fares will be available from participating train operating companies and ticket retailers. Where a participating train company doesn't offer Advance tickets, Off-Peak tickets may be offered as an alternative."

So as GWR do offer Advance tickets, I suspect the answer to your question will be no.

Does it include ScotRail (I'm fairly sure last year it was just on crossborder routes), and any idea if LNER will be excluding weekends again? Will tickets for multi-TOC journeys be available?

In BR Fares, you can find out if your desired journeys will be in the sale by looking out for the following:

RailSale OffPKR - Standard Class Off Peak (including Day) Return
Rail Sale Adv S - Standard Class Advance
Rail Sale Adv 1 - First Class Advance

Thank you. So as far as I can tell, that's a yes for my first question, a no for my third, and unsure for the second.

Lucky me I can get a Rail Sale Adv S from Scunthorpe to Manchester for £9,998! If I risk it and pose as a child I can get that down to £4,999. What a load of St Rollox that is.
