Does the sale start at 0001 on 14th January, or later?
I suspect that will depend on the TOC and how they manage their inventory in the reservations system.

I'd guess that TOCs who are offering Off-Peak promotional tickets are likely to go live at 00:01, whereas those offering Advances may be later if they need to do work in the reservations system to make them live.

I'm guessing that normally qualifying Avanti journeys under the sale would still count towards Club Avanti journeys if booked on the Avanti website? Given that e.g. railcard-discounted advances from Carlisle to Preston and Glasgow count despite sometimes being under £7, I don't see why they wouldn't be.

Looking at more terms and conditions, the rail sale doesn't apply to Avanti on Sundays (due to the industrial action?), and for Southeastern the booking limit is three days in advance, not seven. Tickets will be available to buy at Brough, Cleethorpes, Dewsbury, Grimsby Town, Huddersfield, Hull, Malton, Manchester Airport, Middlesbrough, Northallerton, Scarborough, Scunthorpe, Selby, Stalybridge, Thirsk and Thornaby ticket offices according to TransPennine Express's T&Cs.

The National Rail sale lists LNER only tickets to Glasgow and Sunderland; if they're available to buy, how likely is it that you'd just be allowed on the next scheduled service?

TPE have released theirs already. I purchased a few this morning around 7am and the prices were fairly decent considering. £4.50 Newcastle to York and £6.20 Leeds to Newcastle.

Glad you got some good offers, but surely TPE releasing them now breaks the government T&Cs of the sale which could land them in a lot of trouble?

How will you get a journey planner to offer them for sale?

Avanti, Southeastern, CrossCountry are among others who've released theirs prior to 10am. For a sake of a couple of hours, probably no issues. IIRC last year people were able to buy TPE ones days ahead of when they were supposed to!

I think everything has been available for about 30 minutes now? Greater Anglia was available at 07:30 today, if not earlier

I can see Edinburgh – Newcastle TPE sale fares for a Thursday but not for the same Saturday; presumably fares for the Saturday won't get any cheaper at 10:00?

Edit: looking at Newcastle to Berwick for another Saturday, there's rail sale advance singles showing for CrossCountry but not LNER or TPE (which seems like the wrong way around given which has the most capacity from Newcastle, but I think it means the answer's no). I have been able to find a TPE rail sale advance from Newcastle to Edinburgh on the same Saturday.

Avanti, Southeastern and West Mids all went live at around midnight. Others may have done so too, but those were the three I was looking for.

Who fancies a bargain trip from Leeds to Stanlow & Thornton for £7.10? I can't foresee any issues whatsoever with completing this trip

Nothing on GWRs own website and the national rail website rail sale is trash and keeps going down…

I put in the search box on the national rail sale page Basingstoke to Plymouth and it came up £28.00. But when looking on GWR it’s £44.00

Looks like some TOCs are selling advance sale fares for tomorrow, too. Worth keeping an eye out for.

Sale fares won't be available on every service every day. You might have to tweak search dates and times to find a ticket at the sale price.

Looking at SWR, I'm seeing non-sale advances cheaper than sale ones.
Can't see anything for SWR at all. Even if I type in Basingstoke on the GB Rail Sale site, all I am seeing is a load of GWR offers.

I'm once again glad I bought a load of journeys during the GWR sale. Trying to find the good deals is far more difficult in this sale.

It appears SWR rail sale Advances aren't available for anything other than journeys exceeding 50 miles (with an exception or two) to/from Waterloo or Clapham Junction.

Very little on Avanti, and minimal reductions for many routes anyway.

Even noting this, availability is sparse and limited to a few off peak trains, really poor imo. GWR don't restrict peak, unlike SWR too. All in all not exactly the best sale ever down south, up north looks good and there are a few bargains on XC from Exeter. Exeter to Bristol rail sale fares on XC are interesting with some at £6 and some at £26! From Cardiff to Bristol it's often cheaper using sale fares to travel via Cheltenham on XC! If you do use GWR, it's usually cheaper to split at Filton and wait for the next train to Bristol bizarrely.

No Railcard discounts of any kind will apply.
It amused me to see that mentioned in the Railcard email I received telling me about the sale.

200 years! I remember getting a first day cover delivered to me for the 150th!!
