I suspect that will depend on the TOC and how they manage their inventory in the reservations system.Does the sale start at 0001 on 14th January, or later?
Glad you got some good offers, but surely TPE releasing them now breaks the government T&Cs of the sale which could land them in a lot of trouble?TPE have released theirs already. I purchased a few this morning around 7am and the prices were fairly decent considering. £4.50 Newcastle to York and £6.20 Leeds to Newcastle.
How will you get a journey planner to offer them for sale? The National Rail sale lists LNER only tickets to Glasgow and Sunderland; if they're available to buy, how likely is it that you'd just be allowed on the next scheduled service?
Good question. Presumably their inclusion's just an oversight from copying lists from previous years? How will you get a journey planner to offer them for sale?
Avanti, Southeastern, CrossCountry are among others who've released theirs prior to 10am. For a sake of a couple of hours, probably no issues. IIRC last year people were able to buy TPE ones days ahead of when they were supposed to!Glad you got some good offers, but surely TPE releasing them now breaks the government T&Cs of the sale which could land them in a lot of trouble?
GWR and GA already bookable too.TPE have released theirs already. I purchased a few this morning around 7am and the prices were fairly decent considering. £4.50 Newcastle to York and £6.20 Leeds to Newcastle.
Avanti, Southeastern and West Mids all went live at around midnight. Others may have done so too, but those were the three I was looking for.I think everything has been available for about 30 minutes now? Greater Anglia was available at 07:30 today, if not earlier
Maybe LNER are sticking to the 1000 release time?, there's rail sale advance singles showing for CrossCountry but not LNER or TPE
There's no mention of a 10:00 release time in the RDG brief. I think that may just have been the time they were planning to announce that it was live.Maybe LNER are sticking to the 1000 release time?
I refer you to post #5,552 above. There's no mention of a 10:00 release time in the RDG brief. I think that may just have been the time they were planning to announce that it was live.
Has anyone found any LNER Rail Sale tickets?Maybe LNER are sticking to the 1000 release time?
They are showing on GWR mixing desk for Cornwall and Worcester ??Nothing on GWRs own website and the national rail website rail sale is trash and keeps going down…
Sale fares won't be available on every service every day. You might have to tweak search dates and times to find a ticket at the sale price.I put in the search box on the national rail sale page Basingstoke to Plymouth and it came up £28.00. But when looking on GWR it’s £44.00
Can't see anything for SWR at all. Even if I type in Basingstoke on the GB Rail Sale site, all I am seeing is a load of GWR offers.Looking at SWR, I'm seeing non-sale advances cheaper than sale ones.
It appears SWR rail sale Advances aren't available for anything other than journeys exceeding 50 miles (with an exception or two) to/from Waterloo or Clapham Junction. Can't see anything for SWR at all. Even if I type in Basingstoke on the GB Rail Sale site, all I am seeing is a load of GWR offers.
Even noting this, availability is sparse and limited to a few off peak trains, really poor imo. GWR don't restrict peak, unlike SWR too. All in all not exactly the best sale ever down south, up north looks good and there are a few bargains on XC from Exeter. Exeter to Bristol rail sale fares on XC are interesting with some at £6 and some at £26! From Cardiff to Bristol it's often cheaper using sale fares to travel via Cheltenham on XC! If you do use GWR, it's usually cheaper to split at Filton and wait for the next train to Bristol bizarrely. It appears SWR rail sale Advances aren't available for anything other than journeys exceeding 50 miles (with an exception or two) to/from Waterloo or Clapham Junction.
It amused me to see that mentioned in the Railcard email I received telling me about the sale.No Railcard discounts of any kind will apply.
