Fulfilling a demand that doesn't exist :P
At least, on the plus, we rid ourselves of Middlesbro
I would have thought that the factor of eastward demand from Dewsbury to Leeds is significantly more than that of the next most-demanded destination.
I honestly can't see that this matters.

I've noticed TPE have made another change to move towards with the long term plan - Scarborough services now call at Garforth.
Standing at Liverpool Lime St this afternoon brought this into sharp focus. Not only do the Scarbrough departures run the slow way to Manchester, they now pick up the Dewsbury call in addition to their Stalybridge one - AND most of them stop at Garforth too! :P
Look how far down the list York is on the xx12 and then xx22 on the boards at Lime St :P Sadly my pic of it has come out badly.
Yes of course it's a lot faster overall, but I was hoping to beat the booked 31 min.
But there is a 50mph TSR at Huyton until the works are complete there, plus the Astley 60mph.
There was a lot of coasting involved at below line speed east of there.
What I meant was that there is scope to cut the time by another couple of minutes. A 30-minute trip time really would be impressive.
Ah right yes I think I see now
Well I was on the 11:44 from Leeds to Liverpool and the 14:12 back this afternoon via Manchester Vic.
On the way the train was fairly empty, seems to have quite some time standing at Leeds. Everyone got off at Huddersfield... and then it was incredibly quiet for a TPE service with only a handful more getting on at Manchester Victoria. For some reason we were incredibly slow through Marsden and then again at Stalybridge. I think the through route at Staly is a bit slow which seems a shame... And the rest of the line through Ashton under Lyne was also disappointingly slow. It was nice to zoom through the Rainhill/Lea Green area at 90 as mentioned upthread

I assume the other two restrictions referred to are temporary? Again though, I echo the sentiment that the most annoying thing is the eastbound standing time at Victoria. The journey takes in the main 1h24 westbound and 1h30 eastbound...
A few shots below: note the TPE staff at Victoria today

Wonder if they took my advice on that

The interior is the train on arrving at Lime St dead! Of course it's unclear if that's more related to the time of day, I did pick those times specifically because I reckoned they'd be the quietest. I did ask the guard vaugely how the new route was going he said "I don't know this is my first time on it!"
