The Autotransfomer system Distributes at +/- 25kV the OLE is standard 25kV so the systems feeds the contact OLE as normal
It’s fed from Ordsall Lane which in itself is fed from Hetrod via the Lkng expansion lead
Manchester-Euxton Jn is AT fitted, but I don't think Lostock-Wigan will be.Oh so is Lostock-Wigan using an autotransformer system? If not how do AT systems deal with feeding a branch that is not using ATF. Is it that the branch to Wigan will only be fed by the Autotransformer at Lostock SATS and therefore not carry a -25kv wire because there are no more autotransformers (sectioning, midpoint or standalone) on the way to Wigan?
Agreed I think Lostock-Wigan is Boosterless Classic just like Preston-BlackpoolManchester-Euxton Jn is AT fitted, but I don't think Lostock-Wigan will be.
The Chat Moss route is AT, but Huyton-Springs Branch isn't.
Does this mean there isn't an MPTSC at the neutral section near Ince because the WCML wouldn't be able to feed off a classic line in an N-2 situation?Agreed I think Lostock-Wigan is Boosterless Classic just like Preston-Blackpool
Don't they know it's bad to have an extension lead on an extension lead? It’s fed from Ordsall Lane which in itself is fed from Hetrod via the Lkng expansion lead
Indeed, it has notOn a serious note, shame a out the theft and hope it hasn't delayed the live date too much.
People living near the railway and passengers travelling between Wigan and Bolton are being warned that newly-installed 25,000-volt electric power lines are now permanently live.
This morning (Wednesday 1 January) Network Rail and its contractors* carried out final tests on the high-voltage cables which have been installed over the last two years along the six mile stretch of railway.
After the tests, specialist electrical engineers then powered up the cables and they are now turned on 24 hours a day.
Great news - really great news.Indeed, it has not

Fantastic! My nan lives in Westhoughton and uses the service to get to the airport. It should be much easier for her to get a seat now.Indeed, it has not

Welcome to the forum. Your first post I see.769's have been using the wires since Sept. But your point still stands!
Indeed....Steady on! probably wont see any electric passenger services for several months while they do live testing. Manchester-Stalybridge went new years day 2024 and only got used in service for the first time a month ago
Depends what's found when the testing is done, when the pair of 331s went to Stalybridge there were a few issues found that needed rectifying, hence why it took until August before 769s could run with the pan up. (7th August is when I worked my first electric 769 to Staly)Perhaps the bigger question - why on earth does it take 6+ months to complete live testing?
Presumably they have to find some access as well, perhaps at late notice and then get everyone to be there for the testing. Lots of ducks to get into a row.Indeed....

I don't think nanny will be getting any direct trains to the Airport!Fantastic! My nan lives in Westhoughton and uses the service to get to the airport. It should be much easier for her to get a seat now.
Just a matter of time and wonder if Mentor will be involved?I'm pretty sure they will have it ready to go on May 17th, when the new timetable comes into effect. I've not seen any test trains yet through Hindley. Does anyone know when these will start running?
Thanks, first post but I have been lurking here a long time!Welcome to the forum. Your first post I see.
and Pendolinos as well?Just a matter of time and wonder if Mentor will be involved?

Are the 769s still due to be moved on in December? From what I'm hearing the rail replacement buses will finish from the May timetable change. Also some Northern staff I've spoken to don't reckon they'll be doing 769 power changeover at Ince. Keeping it to Bolton as it is now.

Interesting. I wonder if power changeover signs will be fitted at Hindley/Ince then like the ones at Bolton etc for 769s?A Wigan based Northern conductor I asked said he’d been told they power changeover is being moved to Hindley soon.
